4 Rules For Raising Open-Minded Kids Who Listen To Others ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌

4 Rules For Raising Open-Minded Kids Who Listen To Others ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ May. 5, 2023 May is Mental Health Month, and that’s especially crucial for men, who are, as a group, reluctant to seek treatment when their mental health takes a dive. One survey, for example, found that 40% of men said it would take thoughts of suicide or self-harm for them to seek mental health treatment. In general, men are less likely to seek therapy and to use medication to manage their mental health — and it’s no surprise that they’re 3.5 times more likely to die from suicide than women. Now, some better news: More men are going to therapy and taking steps to care for their mental health than ever before. In general, men are more open about attending to their mental health, too. Hell, the term “self-care” is hard to avoid as is the phrase “put your own oxygen mask first”. But more needs to be done. So take this as a reminder to care for your mental health. Build good routines. Be open about your struggles. And demonstrate to your children the important work of being there for yourself. If nothing else, do it for them.
