Ahead of Week 1 of the NFL season all 32 NFL teams need to trim their rosters down to 53. August 31, 2022 August 31, 2022 Cut Down Day Surprises Jon Impemba [Follow on Twitter](~/AAAHagA~/RgRk8eCoP0QfaHR0cHM6Ly90d2l0dGVyLmNvbS9qaW1wZW1iYTc3N1cFc3BjZXVCCmMFqFsPY6vyjxpSG3RyaXN0cmFtYmFsZHdpbjkyQGdtYWlsLmNvbVgEAAABRA~~) Ahead of Week 1 of the NFL season all 32 NFL teams need to trim their rosters down to 53. For fantasy football players, cut down day usually passes without much fanfare as the players that find themselves cut or kept often don’t have too much impact on the decisions when preparing for your fantasy football draft. That said, Tuesday rang a much different tune as there were a few names that hit the headlines that had the fantasy community abuzz. Let’s look at some of the top headlines from NFL cutdown day. Houston Texans Name Their Starting Running Back There was no question that Dameon Pierce looked like the best running back on the Texans roster during the preseason but veteran running back Marlon Mack’s presence on the roster still had some wondering if Houston would employ a timeshare at the position with Mack cutting into some of the rookies workload. Whelp, early Tuesday that question was answered with the Texans releasing Mack as they work their roster down to 53. Over the last seven days Pierce has an ADP of 67.34 and is coming off the board as RB24. With only the likes of Rex Burkhead and Royce Freeman behind him on the depth chart to challenge for carries we should fully expect to see Pierce's ADP skyrocket over the next week as we head into Week 1 of the fantasy football season. Ronald Jones Survives the Cut The Kansas City Chiefs backfield situation has been another hot topic during the offseason with seventh round rookie Isaih Pacheco earning most of the headlines and many declaring Ronald Jones spot on the roster all but gone after he signed with Kansas City in free agency following his tenure with the Buccaneers coming to an end. However, the Chiefs decided to keep RoJo on their roster with sources citing that his play during the final preseason game was enough to keep him in their backfield mix. The Chiefs will now head into the season with a running back depth chart that includes Clyde Edwards-Helaire, Jerick McKinnon, Ronald Jones and rookie Isiah Pacheco. Pacheco’s stock is the one that has to be hit the hardest here as it became clearer over the past week or so that the Chiefs liked McKinnon in that third down role and CEH as their starting back. Ronald Jones will now likely compete for short-yardage touches which may put the flame out of the Pacheco candle come the start of the NFL season. Sony Michel Heading Out of Miami A move that was made on Monday but still has sneaky fantasy impact was the Dolphins decision to move on from Sony Michel. This offseason new head coach Mike McDaniel went and signed three running backs in Chase Edmonds, Raheem Mostert and the aforementioned Michel. It was anticipated that Michel would be in the mix as a short-yardage and possible goal line back for this Dolphins roster but his since dismal makes one Raheem Mostert quite an interesting late-round grab in fantasy drafts. Mostert has familiarity with McDaniel’s offense from their time together with the 49ers and Mostert was pegged to be the 49ers lead running back last season before a Week 1 injury ended his year. Mostert is now healthy and profiles as more of a workload running back than Chase Edmonds who, while playing more snaps than James Conner last season, is much more of a quick, pass catching running back than someone who can handle consistent rushing workload. Mostert is currently being drafted as RB53 over the past week with an ADP of 151.14 which has him going outside the top 12 rounds in most fantasy football drafts.   ~/AAAHagA~/RgRk8eCoP0SkaHR0cHM6Ly93d3cuZmFudGFzeWFsYXJtLmNvbS9jaGVja291dC9tb250aGx5P3Byb21vY29kZT1uZmw1MCZ1dG1fc291cmNlPWVtYWlsJnV0bV9tZWRpdW09YnJhemUmdXRtX2NhbXBhaWduPW5ld19wcmljaW5nX2VtYWlsX21vcm5pbmdhbGFybV9icmF6ZSZ1dG1faWQ9bmV3X3ByaWNpbmdXBXNwY2V1QgpjBahbD2Or8o8aUht0cmlzdHJhbWJhbGR3aW45MkBnbWFpbC5jb21YBAAAAUQ~ Latest Features ~/AAAHagA~/RgRk8eCoP0R3aHR0cHM6Ly93d3cuZmFudGFzeWFsYXJtLmNvbS9hcnRpY2xlcy9uZmwvZmFudGFzeS1mb290YmFsbC1kcmFmdC1ndWlkZS90aGUtdWx0aW1hdGUtZmFudGFzeS1mb290YmFsbC1jaGVhdC1zaGVldC8xMjk1MDZXBXNwY2V1QgpjBahbD2Or8o8aUht0cmlzdHJhbWJhbGR3aW45MkBnbWFpbC5jb21YBAAAAUQ~ Updated Fantasy Football Cheat Sheet [Download now >](~/AAAHagA~/RgRk8eCoP0R3aHR0cHM6Ly93d3cuZmFudGFzeWFsYXJtLmNvbS9hcnRpY2xlcy9uZmwvZmFudGFzeS1mb290YmFsbC1kcmFmdC1ndWlkZS90aGUtdWx0aW1hdGUtZmFudGFzeS1mb290YmFsbC1jaGVhdC1zaGVldC8xMjk1MDZXBXNwY2V1QgpjBahbD2Or8o8aUht0cmlzdHJhbWJhbGR3aW45MkBnbWFpbC5jb21YBAAAAUQ~) ~/AAAHagA~/RgRk8eCoP0StaHR0cHM6Ly93d3cuZmFudGFzeWFsYXJtLmNvbS9hcnRpY2xlcy9uZmwvZmFudGFzeS1mb290YmFsbC1hZHZpY2UvMjAyMi1mYW50YXN5LWZvb3RiYWxsLXBsYXllci1kZWJhdGVzLWFyZS13ZS1vdmVydmFsdWluZy16YWNoLWVydHotYmFzZWQtb2ZmLWxhc3Qtc2Vhc29ucy1wZXJmb3JtYW5jZS8xMzI2MzFXBXNwY2V1QgpjBahbD2Or8o8aUht0cmlzdHJhbWJhbGR3aW45MkBnbWFpbC5jb21YBAAAAUQ~ Are We Overvaluing Zach Ertz Based Off Last Season's Performance?
