A double dip from producer Ryan Murphy hits TV this week, starting with Tuesdayâs debut of American Sports Story: Aaron Hernandez, the first in a new franchise thatâs part of an even larger franchise along with American Horror Story and American Crime Story. The true crime drama details the life of New England Patriots tight end Aaron Hernandez (Josh Rivera), who was convicted of the 2013 murder of Odin Lloyd and more crimes during his meteoric rise in football. [In his review]( Keith Phipps called the show a nuanced look at how a young manâs fate turned tragic due to several outside forces. Advanced screeners werenât sent out, but from the trailer, it looks like it has some serious Ryan Murphy energy.

This new version comes from Jane the Virginâs Jennie Snyder Urman and stars Kathy Bates as the titular character, this time rejoining the workforce in her 70s to battle stereotypes and ageism, and, in a late-premiere twist, something much bigger.](
