One of my favorite times of the year is happening right now â my wife and kid are going back to school, leaving me in peace and quiet in my home office! But also, itâs the start of the US Open, tennisâs final Grand Slam of the year and, IMO, the single best sports tournament of the year. (Yeah, I said it, March Madness!) Itâs on ESPN all day long, but if you really want to see it, drop the cash for an ESPN+ account. [Hereâs how to watch the US Open](. And hereâs what to watch this week. -Tim Your Watch This Now! newsletter is created by Senior Recommendations and Reviews Editor Tim Surette and more show-obsessed editors at TV Guide! SEASON 4 PREMIERES TUESDAY ON HULU [Only Murders in the Building goes Hollywood (and a little meta)]( [The decidedly New York City series Only Murders in the Building is headed to California for its fourth season, as Hollywood pitches Oliver (Martin Short), Charles (Steve Martin), and Mabel (Selena Gomez) to make a movie out of their podcast. The trio swap the Pickle Diner for In-n-Out as they debate whether to sign over their rights to Paramount while also investigating the Season 3 finale murder of Sazz (Jane Lynch). Of course, Only Murders is well known for its string of excellent guest stars, and that trend continues with Molly Shannon, Melissa McCarthy, Kumail Nanjiani, and, playing the podcasters in the movie-within-the-show, Zach Galifianakis, Eugene Levy, and Eva Longoria. Thatâs Hollywood, baby!](
SEASON 2 PREMIERES THURSDAY ON PRIME VIDEO [The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power needs this to work badly]( I donât think any TV series this year has more pressure on it than The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power, the most expensive show (per episode) ever made. Even though it became Prime Videoâs most-streamed premiere in history and drove more sign-ups than any other Prime Video show when it debuted in 2022, it quickly disappeared from pop culture consciousness, and hardcore fans â as they are wont to do â complained about the adaptation. Thatâs not exactly justifying the price tag. No plot description about Season 2 is going to make you watch it or not, but for what itâs worth, the showrunners have said that the first season was a lot of setup and that [Season 2 will be better and bigger âby an order of magnitude.â]( The question is whether that will be enough.
SERIES PREMIERES THURSDAY ON NETFLIX [Kaos geeks out over Greeks]( [Old stories are all the rage this week. In addition to the broadcast premiere of Season 4 of the biblical drama The Chosen (Sunday at 8/7c, The CW), Netflix is turning the stories of Greek mythology into a twisted modern-day comedy-drama. Jeff Goldblum plays Zeus, who fears the end of his reign is nigh when a trio of humans begin to fulfill a prophecy and uncover a conspiracy by the gods. Kaos comes from Charlie Covell, who was behind the dark and funny Netflix series The End of the F***ing World, so expect similar vibes here, as well as plenty of Greek mythology Easter eggs. Hades as a bureaucratic nightmare? Itâs here, and itâs fun to watch. The cast also includes David Thewlis, Suzy Eddie Izzard, Billie Piper, and Janet McTeer.]( A GOOD SHOW [A fond farewell to a truly Evil series]( The staff favorite Evil aired its (probably) final episode last week after four glorious seasons, and if youâve never seen the supernatural procedural from Robert and Michelle King, allow our own Kelly Connolly to convince you to check it out with [her heartfelt look back on the series](. The show borrowed the skeptic vs. believer dynamic of The X-Files to dissect societal ills through demonic and religious storytelling, all with the Kingsâ signature intelligent lunacy and incredible performances by the entire cast, which included Katja Herbers, Mike Colter, Michael Emerson, and Aasif Mandvi. All four seasons are streaming on Paramount+, and the first two are on Netflix.
