Happy 35th birthday to âToonces the Driving Cat,â one of my favorite running Saturday Night Live sketches of all time. For those who donât know, [Toonces was a cat who could drive a car](. Or maybe he was just a cat that we assumed could drive a car. Toonces drove several famous people around, including Steve Martin, Candice Bergen, Linda Hamilton, and more. Heâs also arguably the first cat meme. Hereâs what to watch on TV this week. -Tim Your Watch This Now! newsletter is created by Senior Recommendations and Reviews Editor Tim Surette and more show-obsessed editors at TV Guide! SERIES PREMIERES THURSDAY ON MAX [Thirst With Shay Mitchell is drunk on travel]( [Travel shows love to embrace local culture through food, which is fine and all, but after your fourth or fifth unpronounceable small plate, what you really need is a drink. Pretty Little Liarsâ Shay Mitchell hosts this travel series focusing on booze around the globe (mostly South America in Season 1), and sheâs not just sipping on cocktails that are rum + local fruit juice. Sure, she hits some cool hip bars, but Mitchell also explores ancient cultures through traditional customary imbibing, sampling recipes that are thousands of years old. Itâs more youthful than other travel shows, and Mitchell is game to get out of her comfort zone for the sake of entertainment. Example: She eats a guinea pig.](
SEASON 4 PREMIERES THURSDAY ON PARAMOUNT+ [Evil is as good as ever]( news is a little bit evil: Everyone's favorite show about demonic possession (and one of our favorite shows, period) is ending with its fourth season. As co-creators Robert and Michelle King put it in a statement, "We will miss this show and cast. In many ways it was a dream project, but sadly evil will outlast Evil." But trust Evil to make the best of it: The Paramount+ procedural is getting four "bonus" episodes (on top of the full 10-episode season already filmed) to end the series in style. It's tempting to say fans will get closure, but on a show as gleefully chaotic as this one, closure might not be the point. What we do know is that Kristen (Katja Herbers), David (Mike Colter), and Ben (Aasif Mandvi) have plenty more bizarre cases to assess, involving the likes of possessed pigs, an evil relic, and a dance muse. Meanwhile, Leland (Michael Emerson) is [trying to bring a baby antichrist]( into the world â using Kristen's missing egg. So that should be easy to wrap up. -Kelly Connolly FRIDAY ON NETFLIX [Atlas is streamingâs big, blustery holiday weekend film]( [The doomsayers were correct: Artificial intelligence is taking over Hollywood. Except A.I. isnât writing scripts and putting writers on the streets (yet); itâs the subject of almost every sci-fi film or TV show out there. The latest is the Netflix movie Atlas, which places the naturally intelligent and technophobic analyst Atlas (Jennifer Lopez) in league with an A.I. to capture a rogue robot (Simu Liu) in the far reaches of space. There will be explosions! There will be robot battles! There will be J. Lo! Netflix doesnât have a great track record with big sci-fi films (they stink), and thereâs no reason to believe Atlas will be any different, but it will still be streamed up the wazoo and give Lopez a win after the tepid release of her latest album and the accompanying film. Most of us have an extra 24 hours this weekend; why not spend it watching some CGI?]( HOLIDAY PLANS [Our May watch guide will keep you busy over Memorial Day weekend]( The unofficial start of summer is Memorial Day, and as usual, our big-ass country canât decide on what kind of weather to have. Heat in the South, rain in the Midwest, and possible perfection in the Northeast and on the West Coast. But you know what is consistent no matter where you live? Whatâs on TV. [Our guide to what to watch this month]( will keep your holiday weekend busy, whether youâre sheltering from thunderstorms or from someone putting too much lighter fluid on the grill.
