I really enjoyed [this clip of Robet Smigel]( (thank you TV Tattle’s Norman Weiss), the man behind Triumph the Insult Comic Dog, paying tribute to his late friend Richard Washington, whom he met while doing Triumph’s legendary Late Night with Conan O’Brien bit outside the premiere of Star Wars: Episode II — Attack of the Clones. ([I still laugh my ass off everytime I watch this bit]( Washington, who went by the wizardly name Blackwolf the Dragonmaster, was always in character and had a unique viewpoint on the world that I think everyone should see. It’s great life advice for anyone who doesn’t want to follow the norm. Here’s what to watch, expanded to five recommendations to accommodate the busy week! -Tim   Your Watch This Now! newsletter is created by Senior Recommendations and Reviews Editor Tim Surette and more show-obsessed editors at TV Guide!   PREMIERES TUESDAY AT 9/8C ON HBO, MAX [The Truth vs. Alex Jones exposes hate for profit]( [No matter what political mascot you identify with, I hope we can all agree that Alex Jones can go suck an egg. The public access TV charlatan who leveraged conspiratorial hate into unjustified influence over pebble-brained numbskulls and a business selling anti-woke supplements had his keister handed to him in court over his despicable spewing of theories that the 2012 Sandy Hook massacre never happened. This HBO documentary film, from Leaving Neverland director Dan Reed, follows these court rulings against Jones and attempts the gargantuan task of figuring out why Jones would perpetuate such inflammatory idiocy. The real anchors here are Reed’s heartbreaking interviews with the parents of the children killed at Sandy Hook, which reveal harassment from an army of Jones’ followers that prevented them from the daunting process of grieving the loss of their kids, but seeing Jones get absolutely flayed in court is great, too. Warning: Reed builds his foundation with a look at what happened at Sandy Hook, which is difficult to see but essential to understand how truly depraved Jones and his cronies are.]( SEASON 2 PREMIERES WEDNESDAY ON BRITBOX [Do some Time]( [The BBC's acclaimed prison drama — streaming exclusively in the U.S. on BritBox — moves to a women's prison for Season 2, but those looking for moments of uplifting dramedy like in Orange Is the New Black shouldn't be fooled: This is more like HBO's legendarily gritty Oz. Leading the way in Season 2 are Jodie Whittaker (Doctor Who) as a mom who gets thrown in the clink for fiddling with her electricity meter and Bella Ramsey (The Last of Us) as an addict whose most recent incarceration comes with a new problem, and both are spectacular, particularly Ramsey, who puts every ounce of her being into a heartbreaking performance that's one of the best of the year. It's just three episodes of spotlighting a broken justice system through the eyes of three women, but each of the episodes is heavy enough to leave welts.]( PREMIERES FRIDAY AT 10 ON FX, SATURDAY ON HULU [Spermworld explores a unique subculture]( Documentarian Lance Oppenheim (Some Kind of Heaven) adds his peculiar style to this New York Times-produced film about a unique subculture: the unregulated business of private sperm donation. Following a trio of donors as they meet with clients in "roadside motels, abandoned shopping malls, and suburban bathrooms," Spermworld delves into the idea of finding partnership from an impersonal place. It’s [one of our picks for the best and biggest movies to stream this spring TV season.]( SERIES PREMIERES FRIDAY ON DISNEY+ [Renegade Nell is a family-friendly charmer]( [Disney+’s newest family-friendly adventure comes from Sally Wainwright, the creator of the very not family-friendly and near-perfect psychological crime drama Happy Valley. But in Renegade Nell, she retains one important element of her prior work: a female protagonist who is not to be trifled with and stands up for those who can’t protect themselves. In this fantasy series set in the 1700s, commoner Nell (Derry Girls’ Louisa Harland, who is excellent), for reasons unbeknownst to her and the audience, comes under the protection of a fairy-like being (Ted Lasso’s Nick Mohammed) who imbues her with power whenever she’s in danger, which comes in handy after she’s accused of murdering a local lord. You’ll fall for her as soon as she throws her first bandit 40 feet across the ground. Resorting to the life of a highwayman, Nell soon comes to learn her destiny is greater than she could have ever imagined. It’s a fun character-first romp that’s a better fit for families with older tweens and teens than younger kids.]( SERIES PREMIERES FRIDAY AT 11/10C ON HBO, MAX [Jerrod Carmichael Reality Show is raw]( [One of the most exciting comedians working today is Jerrod Carmichael, who has taken the unusual path of working with indie rappers, headlining network comedies, and refusing lots of money to do even more mainstream projects in favor of being as authentic to himself as he can be. His 2022 Emmy-winning comedy special Rothaniel was his most raw yet and focused on Carmichael coming out as gay, and his new project Jerrod Carmichael Reality Show accelerates his newfound openness with no filters. Jerrod lets the world in on his life of crushes and relationships, his love of anonymous sex, and his complicated issues with his religious parents, offering a unique look into what it’s like to be a celebrity when all you have are normal issues.]( [Privacy Policy]( | [Terms of Service]( | [View in Browser]( [Unsubscribe]( © 2024 TV Guide, A Fandom, Inc. company.
