A sarcastic congratulations to Vladimir Putin, who won his reelection as Top Dude in Russia with more than 87 percent of the “vote.” In related news, I am back for an 873rd term as Master of the Watch This Now Newsletter with 1000 percent of the vote. Yes, I am so popular that everyone voted for me 10 times. Glory to Tim! Here’s what to watch this week. -Tim   Your Watch This Now! newsletter is created by Senior Recommendations and Reviews Editor Tim Surette and more show-obsessed editors at TV Guide!   SERIES PREMIERES THURSDAY ON NETFLIX [3 Body Problem will treat your eyes and scramble your noodle]( Netflix’s biggest new IP of the year is this ambitious sci-fi series from the creators of Game of Thrones. [Pause for booing.] Hey now, let’s give them a second chance! An adaptation of Cixin Liu’s epic series of novels that combine China’s Cultural Revolution, quantum physics, and extraterrestrial life, 3 Body Problem [has so far been divisive among critics]( with some hailing it as a masterpiece and others dismissing it as pseudointellectual babble that goes nowhere. What I’ve seen has been confusing and interesting, which is exactly how the book felt. However, pretty much everyone agrees that it’s good to look at, with massive CGI scenes that bend reality. Sometimes, that’s all it takes to get the mind off the rigors of the day. [In her review of the series]( Gavia Baker-Whitelaw says, “Every episode leaves us with a compelling reason to watch the next — which is more than I can say for the lazily paced majority of Netflix originals.” *BAM POW* THURSDAY ON PRIME VIDEO *CRACK BANG* [Road House is a punchy way to spend your weekend]( [At first, I thought the idea of rebooting Road House, the 1989 Patrick Swayze cult classic, was a bad idea. Then I got off my nostalgic high horse and remembered that Road House is really just about a guy who beats up other guys, and a reboot made all the sense in the world. In this version, directed by Doug Liman, Jake Gyllenhaal plays a former UFC fighter who ends up working at a Florida roadhouse, where he cracks skulls and learns things aren’t as they seem at his workplace. That’s all I need to know.]( SATURDAY ON HBO, MAX [Ramy Youssef: More Feelings goes face to face with sensitive topics]( Ramy Youssef, the titular Ramy from Ramy, returns to HBO with his second stand-up special, More Feelings (the first, from 2019, was titled Feelings — you get it). Per HBO's official description, the special finds the comedian presenting "his unique reflections on our divided world." [The very short trailer]( which is actually more of a 30-second excerpt of one joke, is already very funny, as Youssef expresses that he is "done apologizing" to Islamophobes. -Allison Picurro GET SPRUNG [The 27 most anticipated shows of the spring]( [The biggest season of the year for TV is typically the fall season, but that doesn’t mean it’s the best. Spring is the time when cable channels and streaming services release their best series to avoid the crush of the fall and keep their shows fresh in the minds of Emmy voters, and this year feels especially meaty. We’ve looked over the schedules and picked out the 27 shows we’re most excited for, from Prime Video’s adaptation of Fallout to Elizabeth Moss’ The Veil to Netflix’s Bridgerton Season 3.]( [Privacy Policy]( | [Terms of Service]( | [View in Browser]( [Unsubscribe]( © 2024 TV Guide, A Fandom, Inc. company.
