BREAKING re: Clean Power Plan

Scott Pruitt, the Environmental Protection Agency administrator, is scrapping the Clean Power Plan. To be clear, the purpose of the Clean Power Plan was to cut U.S. greenhouse gas emissions 30 percent by 2030, and it was projected to prevent thousands of early deaths and 140,000 to 160,000 asthma attacks in children. The U.S. Global Change Research Program put out a report that blames human activity for the rise in global temperature. Yet, Scott Pruitt and the Environmental Protection Agency are still planning to scrap the Clean Power Plan. To be clear, the purpose of the Clean Power Plan aimed to cut U.S. greenhouse gas emissions 30 percent by 2030, and it was projected to prevent thousands of early deaths and 140,000 to 160,000 asthma attacks in children. Scott Pruitt, the EPA administrator, is hell-bent on dismantling any EPA program meant to protect the planet and the public, especially children. In addition to scrapping the Clean Power Plan, he has rescinded drinking water protections, cancelled a scheduled ban of the neurotoxic pesticides chlorpyrifos and covered up the carcinogenic risks of glyphosate, the main ingredient in Monsanto’s Roundup.
