Another holiday weekend with gun violence is why we are on a mission [–]( Hi— Just over the July 4th weekend, there were over 500 shootings across nearly every state, with at least 180 people shot and killed, and more than 525 injured. This pattern of gun violence erupting over holiday weekends follows the nearly 200 shootings during Father's Day weekend and the nearly 300 shootings over Memorial Day weekend this year. This violence must come to an end. Families deserve to celebrate with their loved ones in peace. Communities deserve to experience parades and parties without fear that they will have to hide from a hail of bullets. That’s why we fight. We've made a lot of progress, but our work is far from done. Every day, we at Everytown are actively working towards a future free from gun violence. Together, with your support, we can keep pushing for a life-saving rule that expands background checks, stop reckless "guns everywhere" bills in statehouses across the country—like permitless carry and bills to arm teachers—and put an end to the gun violence crisis. If you're with us in this fight, [we hope you'll join other supporters and make a contribution today to take action.]( Thanks for your support, Everytown for Gun Safety [CONTRIBUTE TO END GUN VIOLENCE]( As a movement of Americans fighting for common-sense gun policies, we depend on contributions from supporters like you to fund important work to reduce gun violence.
