In 2011 I was working with a super talented imagery analyst from The National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency (NGA). Greetings Everyday Spy, If you’ve been following my [EverydaySpy YouTube Channel]( then you’ve been seeing my personal travels and learning about IMINT along the way. Next to HUMINT, imagery intelligence was my next favorite type of intelligence collection. I wasn’t very good at it, but loved the visual analysis process. It was almost like being there live - in the picture, in the video, in the satellite image - because you immersed yourself in the visual details. In 2011 I was working with a super talented imagery analyst from The National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency (NGA). We were hunting for FARC units hidden deep in the Columbian jungle. HUMINT is tons of fun! HUMINT in the jungle is not much fun. But thankfully, we can minimize the discomfort of disease, snake-bites and jungle cats thanks to our brothers and sisters at NGA! Hovering over a 12ft glowing table flipping through satellite images from the same day feels like a scene right out of a sci-fi movie. It’s surreal, exciting, and totally invigorating… but it wreaks havoc on your eyes! The tell-tale sign of a good imagery analyst is the high-end prescription eyeglasses that they all end up wearing before they turn 40. I was in total awe watching my NGA counterpart at work with her small team. They found things I would never have thought to look for… - Hidden objects casting shadows from internal light sources - Personnel movements discerned from reviewing images over time - They even had personality profiles for individual FARC rebels based on how they wore their uniforms, where they took their breaks, and when they were on shift Watching them work gave me a new appreciation for the adage about seeing the forest through the trees. You have given me that same awe-struck feeling when you use your own IMINT, OSINT, and GEOINT skills to step up to every challenge I give you. As you continue to [master your spy skills]( I am going to keep doing my best to give you challenges that meet your skill level. Clearly you understand the core concepts of imagery analysis. Now let's get you ready to sit around that glowing table with me next time… Godspeed, #EverydaySpy P.S. - [Your life of adventure, meaning, and purpose is one click away.
