The Iran story that no one told you… [Image](https://) Greetings Everyday Spy, Five years ago, the idea of Iran being a superpower would have made you laugh. Backwater, brutal theocracies don’t become serious global actors… But the reality today should make you worried. Because what you thought was impossible is now a guarantee. Iran is quickly becoming a dominant player in the Middle East and beyond. But you can’t know where they’re going until you know where they came from. In the 1950s, Iran was a prospering nation with its sights set on modernizing. Despite being ruled by a royal family, liberal reforms were rapidly taking place. But in 1979, the royal government was ousted and replaced with an extremist theocracy headed by Ruhollah Khomeini. This is the beginning of the Iran we know today. Khomeini immediately pursued a Lone Wolf foreign policy. He cut ties with the US and Russia, and promised to create a great nation that wasn’t dependent on anyone. But by the 1980s, Iran’s economy was in dire straits and their lone wolf strategy was failing. After Ruhollah Khomeini’s death in 1989, Ali Khamenei assumed leadership and started looking for foreign alliances to help Iran. Over the next few decades, as US dominance waned, Iran grew closer to Russia and China. Today, Iran is set to become the top regional superpower before the end of the decade. They modernized their military with help from Russia and bolstered their trade and technology with China. Just a few weeks ago, they were officially invited to join BRICS – a powerful international alliance headed by China. Proving their rising star status on the global stage. With big-brother protection and sanction-free trade, Iran is ready to hotly pursue its atomic goals. And there’s not much the US can do about it. A nuclear Iran will deter US presence in the Middle East, giving Russia and China more opportunity in the region. Your friends, family, and coworkers have no idea this is going on. They see war as it used to be – bombs, bullets, and large-scale invasions. But today’s wars are quiet, long-term, and slow moving. You don’t see them unless you’re looking… That’s why I created [Shadow Lessons – to give you an inside look]( at the secret wars raging around us every day.
