We are kinda like comic book characters that way. Only our stories don't (usually) involve toxic spills, mutant insect bites, or imploding planets. We never think of ourselves as heroes when we start out. We are just people like you. My CIA story started shortly after my military career ended. In many ways I was a pretty typical CIA officer. As a former military member with a Top Secret clearance, my entire life was well known to the US Government. During a time when America was expanding its war on terror, it didn’t hurt that my skin, eyes and face could blend in all over the Middle East. My wife, Jihi, is an ex-CIA officer with a very different story than my own. And I love her story because it is so unexpected. Nobody would have ever predicted that one day she would become one of CIA's most prized manhunters. Because at the beginning, she was working 12-hour days for a non-profit that helped refugees. Even today, her heart for serving others hasn't changed. She realized the best way to stop the suffering of others was to hunt down tyrants.
