Under normal circumstances our newsletters are here to let you know about our latest routes and offers to destinations all over Europe. Unfortunately, the spread of coronavirus is currently affecting the everyday lives of people around the world, and no doubt presenting all of us with some unprecedented challenges. As you would expect, due to area-wide entry restrictions, we have had to gradually reduce our flight operations in recent weeks. For the time being, only a maximum of 10% of our aircraft are in the air, to ensure we can offer basic provision for travel that is absolutely necessary.
As you can imagine, âbusiness as usualâ is suspended and Eurowings flight operations will rem ain limited until further notice. However, now more than ever in these challenging times, itâs very important to us to provide you with all the information you need.
In the last few weeks Eurowings has already flown home approximately 20,000 passengers on more than 100 flights. In addition, the market leader position we hold at the airports of Düsseldorf, Hamburg, Stuttgart and Cologne/Bonn, is allowing for the basic supply of domestic connections within Germany as well as flights to selected German destinations and major European cities.
Flexible rebooking conditions
We understand that, at the moment, topics such as holidays, travel and flying are not top of mind for most people, whilst they focus on the most important things in life during this extraordinary time, and we donât want our customers to have to worry about airline tickets that can no longer be used. So weâre now pleased to be offering flexible and extended rebooking options. From now on, all flights in 2020 that were booked by 31. 03. 2020 can be rebooked as many times as you need. The newly booked flights can be taken in the travel period up to 27. 03. 2021. Please make sure that the rebooking is completed prior to the departure date. Any rebookings must be finalised by 31. 08. 2020, at the latest, and can be arranged independently online [here](. Any rebooking charges are not applicable. If your new flight is more expensive than your old one, you simply pay the difference.
Rebooking to another route is currently only possible via our Service Centre, but we are working on a digital solution, so please bear with us. In the meantime, you can keep up to date at [www.eurowings. com/coronavirus](. com/en/information/news-help/information-coronavirus.html).
NEW: Vouchers for flight cancellations
Unfortunately, in the weeks to come we can expect further temporary flight cancellations. Customers who have booked their flights via [eurowings. com](. com/en.html) and have been informed of a flight cancellation will receive an em ail from Eurowings. This em ail will outline your options for âRebookingâ and âIssuing a voucherâ. If you do not wish to rebook your flight, you also have the option of receiving a voucher, issued for the paid value of the fare, and valid for one year from the date of issue. You are free to choose your preferred flight route when redeeming the voucher, which need not be the same as the connection / route originally booked. The use of your voucher will be offset against any claim for reimbursement. You would still have the option of rebooking your flight several times if necessary.
Longer waiting times
Due to the high volume of calls our team are receiving at present, we would ask that flight rebookings are made exclusively [online]( and to only contact our Service Centre if your departure is within the next 72 hours, or if you wish to rebook on to a different route. We ask for your continued patience and understanding as we prioritise those customers who have concerns about flights in the immediate future.
Safety on board
As a valued customer, you can rely on us to get you to your destination safely and responsibly, as always. In the current situation we are aware more than ever of the importance of being a travel partner you can trust. Please be assured that, even in these extraordinary times, your [safety](. com/en/information/news-help/information-coronavirus.html#Infektionsschutz) is our number-one priority. The air in our cabins consists of a mixture of fresh air and filtered circulating air. Thanks to the use of special filters, the cabin air is even cleaner than the air on the ground, and, in fact, itâs on a par with the air quality in an operating theatre. As always, we clean our aircraft to the highest standards and continuously check our on-board service to ensure that it complies with current hygiene guidelines, so that adjustments can be made if necessary. During boarding and check-in, we are ensuring that the greatest possible distance is observed. On board, the middle seat will be left free wherever possible, or given as a last resort. In addition, due to the current situation, we are trying to limit the contact between our cabin staff and our guests, for example, by temporarily reducing our on-board service. All our aircraft are equipped with disinfectants.
When the current crisis has passed, we want to be one of the first airlines to be ready to welcome you back on board, strengthened and grateful for the privilege.
