Peter Brock and Carroll Shelby unlocked the potential of modern aerodynamics. They brought the vision of an aerodynamic GT racer to life against incredible odds, by creating the most iconic car in American motorsport, one that set 25 land speed records. In fact, the Daytona Coupe’s curved body, flat roof and chopped tail are now a common standard. The Daytona Coupe quickly established its fearsome reputation as the fastest GT car in the world. At Le Mans 1964, the Daytona CSX2299 driven by famous duo Bondurant/Gurney set the world alight with a blistering 196 mph (315 km/h) performance at the famous Mulsanne straight. And though the Daytona Coupe never raced again after 1965, it became a symbol of futuristic design, with the original six models now worth several million dollars each. Case replicating the Daytona's aerodynamic design, dial with Shelby racing stripes, red chrono hand featuring the fearsome Cobra Each component of the Shelby Cobra Daytona Coupe has been interpreted and incorporated in the smallest of details in the new Shelby Cobra watches. At the very first glance you can see the inferences. The Daytona’s aerodynamic shape is replicated in sweeping lines forged in a 44mm case in polished/satin-finished steel, or steel and titanium. The dial created by Peter himself, features the Daytona Coupe’s famous colours with a choice of Daytona blue, silver, or half blue/half silver (inspired by the Shelby racing stripes that ended in a perfect split on the Daytona Coupe's flat tail allowing to easily identify the cars during the race). Completing the dial are modern Arabic numerals, vertical or horizontal ring chronograph counters in honour of the Daytona Coupe’s dashboard, highlighted by a tachymeter scale for speed measurements, and special hour and minute hands that recall the steering-wheel with Superluminova* C1 blue emission. Powered by automatic Swiss-Made self-winding chronograph or flyback chronograph movements On the caseback, teased between the wheel spokes of the alloy wheel design is a view of the engines that power the Clifton Club Shelby® Cobra Limited Editions, featuring automatic Swiss-Made self-winding chronograph or flyback chronograph movements. Inside the Clifton Club Shelby Cobra 10344 is the Swiss La Joux-Perret caliber 8147-2 automatic flyback chronograph movement. Operating at 4Hz, the movement has a power reserve of 42 hours. The movement offers the time and 30-minute chronograph along with a date indicator window. The Shelby Cobra 10343 and 10342 models in the all-steel cases contain the Valjoux 7750 automatic chronograph movements and similar "wheel-style" automatic rotors.
