Limited editions with onyx dials for men, women. Presenting the Girard-Perregaux Infinity limited editions with black onyx dials Three signature Girard-Perregaux watches—1966, Vintage 1945, and Laureato—with black onyx dials and pink gold accents. Onyx is the new black! Presenting the Infinity Editions—the infinite essence of Girard-Perregaux’s most timeless collections dressed in pure black onyx. Onyx echoes the stillness of a starless night sky on glossy rock, inspiring divine myths for centuries. With Girard-Perregaux, onyx has a new destiny, a new purpose with infinite possibilities. These new models pay tribute to Girard-Perregaux’s heritage, but wholeheartedly embrace the future. The design of each model is undoubtedly contemporary and perfectly suited for those who appreciate style, strong design codes and extraordinary watchmaking expertise. Featured here are the 1966, Vintage 1956 and Laureato Infinity Editions—three special renditions of Girard-Perregaux’s icons, each of which have a unique identity and appeal. While the 1966 is their archetypal dress watch with refined details, the Laureato is the maison’s take on the classic steel sport watch. The Vintage 1945 has been their signature rectangular-shaped watch that highlighted the appeal of the vintage-inspired aesthetic before the vintage look became the massive trend it is today. Let’s take a closer look at the brilliance of the onyx execution, and how it lends itself to these three special limited editions. The black onyx stone used in these Infinity Editions draws on the expertise of time-served craftspeople. When these artisans shape and polish the finely-cut plates of onyx, by hand, the resultant surface looks exquisite, revealing a mirror-like appearance. Creating these thin dials from onyx, and manipulating the stone in this way, requires exceptional skill and no less than 15 different operations. “Delicately shaping the black onyx dials into their respective rectangular and round shapes requires an inordinate amount of skill,” states Clémence Dubois, Girard-Perregaux’s chief product marketing officer. “The meticulous operations that it involves are spread over a number of months within our manufacture, endowing each piece with exceptional value.” The deep black onyx and its glossy finish forms the perfect backdrop for the other refined elements on the dials of these watches, especially the pink gold accents that stand out with sheer brilliance owing to the gorgeous contrast created. 1966 Infinity—a limited edition of 188 pieces As a pure mechanical watch, the 1966 Infinity is distinguished by an ultra-thin case (only 8.9mm thick), a rounded dial, leaf-type hands and alternating baton-shaped and painted hour markers, both in pink gold. These are classic features in every sense, including the pink gold applied to the ‘GP’ emblem at 12 o’clock. The 1966 Infinity Edition certainly presents the elegance of a black-tie soirée. Indeed, it demonstrates Girard-Perregaux’s capacity to imbue watches with design flair, seemly aesthetics and the brand’s legendary savoir faire. The reliable in-house manufacture movement—the self-winding calibre GP03300-1402—is made of more than 295 components. The sapphire crystal caseback reveals some of these components, including the oscillating weight, decorated with Côtes de Genève or Geneva stripes. These models impart time lucidly and exhibit a becoming simplicity. Dressed in black onyx, they are paragons of sophistication.” Presented as a collection since 1995, the Vintage 1945 was named after a successful art deco-influenced 1945 rectangular watch by Girard-Perregaux. That watch had done really well as one of the early wristwatches that moved away from the typical round shape that was a standard for pocket watches, and it continues to inspire this collection that retains distinctive art deco design codes. The 1966 collection, on the other hand, was named after the year 1966, when the maison introduced the world’s first high-frequency, self-winding movement. Today’s contemporary classical range of 1966 watches continues to pay tribute to the innovative spirit of Girard-Perregaux. The Infinity Editions of the 1966 and the Vintage 1945 reinterpret the design codes of their respective eras but employ onyx as a new form of expression—presenting a very modern take indeed. Vintage 1945 Infinity—a limited edition of 88 pieces Long before vintage became a trend, Girard-Perregaux conceived of the Vintage 1945, inspired by the finest in art deco design. While the original Girard-Perregaux 1945 beautifully captured the charm of the Art Deco movement, its styling informs the Vintage 1945 Infinity Edition as well. Its stylish rectangular case follows the curving profile of the wrist, delivering a superb ergonomic fit. With its numerals in a polished retro font, dauphine-type hour and minute hands soar over the pink gold indexes to succinctly impart meaning. The crown and bracelet are perfectly integrated into the case with elegant gadroons that give the 1945 Infinity its strong personality. The Vintage 1945 Infinity is housed in a steel case measuring 36.1mm by 35.25mm. “The new iterations of the1945 and 1966 deliver beauty and functionality—two attributes that have formed the bedrock of our company since its foundation in 1791,” says Pruniaux. “With the black onyx dials recalling the depth of the universe and its infinite mystery, they are worthy additions to the Infinity series.” MRP: ₹13,55,600 For more information, please call our Luxury Watch Helpline on [+91 8725028882](tel:08725028882), [+91 8725028898](tel:08725028898) [Click here to connect with us on WhatsApp]( The Vintage 1945’s special in-house automatic calibre with a patented large date display The Vintage 1945 Infinity’s automatic in-house manufacture calibre GP03300-1405 comprises 282 components. It includes a patented grande date that allows for the full display of the digits. This Girard-Perregaux-patented large date is displayed by the means of two extremely thin discs—one for the tens, and the other for the units—so that there is no visible separation between the numerals. To be almost invisible, the transparent disc is extremely thin, at only 0.1mm thick. The date change is instant, taking only 1/10,000th of a second. The movement also powers the minimalistic moon phase display and the small seconds—seen on the lower end of the dial. The design of the Laureato has since become known for its enchanting interplay of straight lines and curves and its becoming blend of polished and satin-brushed surfaces. It embraces the notion of ‘sporty-chic’ while also complementing formal attire. Its extraordinary versatility has led to its iconic status. The Manufacture now unveils the latest chapter in the Laureato story: the Laureato Infinity Edition, equipped with a handcrafted deep black onyx dial and pink gold accents appearing from the darkness.
