All-steel sports beauty with an integrated bracelet. Waitlist now open. H. Moser & Cie. launches the Streamliner An all-steel sports beauty designed around a truly spectacular integrated bracelet from the haute horology maison from Schaffhausen The year 2020 has been an exceptionally exciting one for H. Moser & Cie. From watches made in collaboration with MB&F, to the first ever Moser chronograph—both of which have been nominated for highly-coveted GPHG awards—the brand has had a lot to offer watch collectors. Continuing the streak of hits, H. Moser & Cie. unveils the Streamliner Centre Seconds, which follows the self-winding flyback chronograph launched in January 2020 as the second model in the Streamliner collection. 'Streamliner' is a reference to the first high-speed trains from the 1920s and 30s, with rounded curves and edges that these watches have interpreted. This new Streamliner model focuses on the essential: hours, minutes, and seconds at the centre. Equipped with a steel case on an integrated steel bracelet, the aesthetic of the Streamliner Centre Seconds is perfectly harmonious, from its ideal proportions and fluid forms to its high-end finishes. Let's dive deep into this absolute masterpiece. MRP: ₹16,80,000 Availability and offers: Due to a high demand among collectors, there is a wait-list for this watch, with deliveries starting from November. [Click here to connect with us on WhatsApp.]( Inspired by art deco design codes and streamliner locomotives It all started with the objective and idea of creating a watch with a truly spectacular integrated bracelet. Since a bracelet strap in itself was a departure from Moser’s signature look, the idea was perhaps to make a completely different Moser. The vision was clear from the start—it had to be smooth, clean and fluid in form, with a finely streamlined silhouette. This took the team back to the revolutionary locomotive engineering and design of the Art Deco movement, and the iconic streamliner trains from the 1920s and 30s. They knew immediately that the new watch they were creating would be called the Streamliner. And inspiration then came in spades, as they began to dissect aspects of the high-speed trains’ construction. It was the 1936 Mercury streamliner in particular that drove the designing of the Streamliner watch and its bracelet integration, just like the Cartier Tank’s rectangular case and bracelet drew inspiration from the caterpillar tracks of military tanks. The Mercury, named after the Roman messenger god, was an American train of remarkable speed and innovative engineering that helped boost railway passenger traffic in America’s Midwest region in the 1930s. A turning point in railroad design, the Mercury was the first streamliner to be constructed as an integrated unit, with even the external pipes and aluminium trimmings made to reflect that. The rounded lines and aerodynamic curves of the train that helped its swiftness were what really informed not just the silhouette of the Streamliner watch, but even the sculpting of the elements, the design of the bracelet links, as well as the finishing on the metal. The strokes of the brushed finishing on the surfaces of the case and the links create an appearance of streamlined motion—glass and case first and bracelet straps trailing behind. All this richness in design, and where it comes from, translates beautifully into this new edition Streamliner—the Centre Seconds. Designed from the bracelet up, redefining what an integrated bracelet truly means H. Moser & Cie. says that the first designed element of the watch was the integrated bracelet and the rest of the Streamliner was designed around it. The integrated steel bracelet is elegantly arced to follow the line of the wrist. Highly complex in construction, this bracelet has extremely fluid lines, based on organic forms. All the links are articulated and feature a gentle wave combining a vertical brushed finish with polished surfaces. A true technical feat, this bracelet is a masterpiece of subtlety and sophistication, along with unmatched flexibility. Each link is hand polished! Everything about the bracelet seems to have the objective of seamlessness, beginning with the barely-there lugs and trickling all the way down to the folding clasp that’s adorned with the 'M' logo. The articulating links allow for a comfort fit that’s as good as it gets, while the front of the links looks totally clean and natural. Artistic, form-fitting, and immaculately done, the bracelet of the Streamliner Flyback executes a vision as well as, if not better than, any brand out there. The cushion case in steel and its flawless ergonomics The 40mm, rounded, cushion-shaped case in steel is gently cambered and features a matte, satin-brushed finish. The height of the case is 11.8mm with the glass. These dimensions are perfect for virtually any wrist that it might be thrown onto. And the fact that the bracelet is integrated means that there are no lugs, leading to a better fit. To top it all, the case also promises a significant water resistance of 120m. A signature fumé dial in vibrant ‘matrix green’ made by Cadrans Flückiger, of Patek Philippe The fumé dials from H. Moser are iconic. They start with an intense burst of colour in the centre and darken as the edge of the dial approaches. It requires over 200 steps and 60 days to create this dial which is manufactured by Cadrans Flückiger, a Swiss specialist dial maker with over 150 years of expertise in making dials for some of the greatest timepieces ever created. In fact, it is now owned by Patek Philippe. For the Streamliner, H. Moser & Cie. went looking for a different hue and came out with what they call ‘matrix green’—a shade of green you won’t really see much of in watchmaking. Using Moser’s trademark fumé dial technique, the sunburst green dial is lighter in the centre and gradually darkens towards the periphery. Depending on the light that falls on it, the hues you see vary from a deep bottle green and a soft olive to even gold. This brand new colour adds the finishing touch of elegance to this model. The minute hand is curved towards the end where it meets the dial markers and indices, making for greater clarity. An automatic movement, designed and produced completely in-house, equipped with a gold rotor and a Straumann hairspring Inside the Moser Streamliner Centre Seconds is the HMC 200 calibre, which was designed and is produced completely in-house by H.Moser & Cie. It features the brand’s Straumann hairspring and operates at 21,600vph. The Straumann hairspring is considered one of the best hairsprings in the industry and H. Moser & Cie. produces and supplies them to other industry giants like MB&F, Richard Mille and several others. With 27 jewels and offering a significant minimum power reserve of 72 hours, this is an automatic movement suitable for everyday use. The bidirectional pawl-winding system assures that the watch gets wound quicker than in regular winding systems. This self-winding movement is equipped with a solid 18-karat gold rotor which is finished to perfection. All of this splendid craftsmanship and the immaculate decoration of the movement is visible thanks to the sapphire crystal caseback.
