Flat 50% off on all Oris In-House Calibres featuring 10 day power reserves and other patented features. [View this email in your browser]( Special offer | Oris’ in-house calibres equipped with a 10-day power reserve and patented non-linear power reserve displays With a strong brand philosophy of only ever making products that make practical sense, offered at reasonable prices, Oris makes it a point to 'go their own way', in every way possible. Oris, founded in the town of Holstein, Switzerland, in 1904, can look back upon a fairly extensive history of watchmaking and movement-making. In fact, earlier in their 115-year-plus history, Oris had created close to 280 calibres in-house, and was among Switzerland’s largest movement manufacturers. This changed when Oris was taken over by ASUAG (now, the Swatch Group). However, in 1982, the current management bought back the brand, to restore its independent status. After years of working solely with other movement manufacturers, in its centennial year, Oris decided it was high time to resume developing movements in-house from the ground up. The project took 10 years of research and development, but it finally saw fruition in 2014, Oris’s 110th anniversary, with the aptly named calibre 110, which had a power reserve of 10 days. The calibre 110 marked Oris’ return to that league of in-house manufacturing of movements, as they had no intention of stopping at just one calibre. Every year since, they introduce a new in-house movement. The calibre 111 came with power reserve and date indicators, while calibres 112 and 113 had their own signature features. The 114 in particular, was especially suited for India. Take a look at some of the Oris’ most celebrated watches that run on these calibres. Every Oris in-house calibre now comes with an amazing 10-day power reserve indicated via a patented non-linear display. Discover all the additional features which make these watches some of the best value-for-money watches in the world. Oris Calibre 111 - A 10-day power reserve - A patented non-linear power reserve display - Minutes, small seconds and a date indicator - Designed, developed and manufactured by Oris in Holstein, Switzerland The Big Crown ProPilot Calibre 111 Navy blue dial with a dark brown leather strap We have often seen in watchmaking success stories how important it is to have an industrial line of movements. The launch of calibre 111 was a significant moment in Oris’ history. The hand-wound, high-frequency (3Hz, 21,600vph), single-barrel movement was a step forward from Oris’ in-house movement programme, which started with calibre 110 in 2014. Addressing a real issue for real watch lovers—that of a limited power reserve often seen in manual-winding timepieces—the calibre 111 comes with a 10-day power reserve. The patented non-linear power reserve indicator on the dial at three o’clock is inspired by an airplane fuel gauge. This indicator is unique because it represents the speed at which the hand moves during the winding of the watch. Thus, you can see the spacing between the days varies on the power reserve indicator. The features of a pilot’s watch as seen in the Big Crown ProPilot are perfect for anyone. Set in a large, 44mm case made of satin-finished stainless steel, this Big Crown ProPilot features a coin-edged bezel inspired by jet engine turbines. Besides, the watches from this series come with big crowns, which allow users to easily make adjustments even while wearing flying gloves. However, it is interesting to note that despite being an aviation timepiece, the water resistance offered by the case is of 100m. Going by the design codes of an aviation watch, including the requirement of easy readability, the Big Crown ProPilot Calibre 111 has been equipped with an anti-reflective coating on the inside of the sapphire crystal glass to help to reduce the glare. Additionally, the hour markers, as well as the hour and minute hands have been adequately filled with highly legible Super-LumiNova. With applied numerals, the date can be read through the window at nine o’clock. Through the mineral glass caseback, you can appreciate the in-house movement that runs this watch. The timepiece abides by the design codes of an aviation watch, including easy readability, besides the whopping 10-day power reserve, which means it will have to be wound only thrice a month. It is interesting to note that the company has always been into mechanical watches, even during the quartz crisis. Another thing that sets the brand apart is its focus on functionality. They would rather do a 10-day power reserve indicator, which makes functional sense, rather than make a tourbillon. Some of the timepieces of the Artelier collection are also powered by this exemplary movement, which addressed the issue of power reserve limitations in manual-winding timepieces. This stunning Artelier Calibre 111 sports a sunray-finished blue dial with the silver-hued hands and indexes striking an attractive contrast. The watch comes in a 43mm stainless steel case, with a sapphire crystal caseback, which allows you a peek at the movement that powers the piece. Besides the stainless steel bracelet option, the watch is also available with leather straps in brown or blue, while the dial options include grey as well. A manual-winding mechanical movement, the 113 shares the same base architecture as its predecessors, and takes the mechanics a step further with a ‘business calendar’. The ‘business calendar’ complication is presented on the face of this Oris Artelier timepiece by way of markers around the edge of the dial, and a central hand with a red arrowhead. The markers graduate from 1 to 52, corresponding to the 52 weeks of the year, and further inside are the 12 months of the Gregorian calendar, spelt in English. The arrowhead on the central hand points at the current week of the year, and will hence be on the current month as well, as it takes a year for it to complete one round of the dial. Besides, the watch includes the other conventional calendar features, such as the day of the week and the date of the month, seen through apertures at 12 and nine o’clock respectively. There is also a small seconds sub-dial at nine o’clock. Impressively, all of these functions can be set by the single-grooved crown. Other detailing on the opaline silver dial are the applied gold-plated markers and numerals, and gold-plated hands, with the hour and minute hands filled with Super-LumiNova. [Click here to connect with us on WhatsApp.]( Oris Calibre 114—with the second time zone capable of displaying half-hour time differences such as India’s - A 10-day power reserve - A patented non-linear power reserve display - Minutes, small seconds and a date indicator - A second time zone indicator capable of displaying time in zones with a half-hour difference; for example, India - Designed, developed and manufactured by Oris in Holstein, Switzerland The calibre 114—with a GMT feature, including the half-hour difference, especially for India The Oris Big Crown ProPilot Calibre 114 is among the more recent expressions of Oris’ long-standing ties to aviation. Oris made its first pilot’s watch in the early 1910s. The Big Crown eventually became the first watch to carry the independent Swiss company's innovative in-house developed calibre 114, which features a 10-day power reserve, indicated via non-linear power reserve display and a 24-hour second time zone indicator. Operating in the GMT format, the Calibre 114 is designed to easily adapt to showing the time in a different time zone, with the local time and date functioning as usual. [Click here to connect with us on WhatsApp.]( An India-specific GMT watch with half-hour indications—invaluable for world travellers The development of this watch began when someone from India posed a question to the chairman of Oris, Ulrich Herzog—whether they’d be able to do something for countries that fall in time zones like ours, where there are an additional 30 minutes to consider. Oris took this very seriously and quickly came out with the Big Crown ProPilot Calibre 114. With functionality being the brand’s biggest priority, the ProPilot Calibre 114 features a 44mm stainless steel case with a crown that’s big enough to use with aviation gloves. Besides the central hour and minute hands, there is a central GMT hand, with its unique red arrowhead pointing to the 24-hour time scale. The 24-hour scale also has dots to indicate the half-hour points between each hour. This scale allows for an unobtrusive display of secondary time. Like its predecessors, the calibre 114 is an in-house mechanical movement that offers a 10-day power reserve. All these factors make the ProPilot a no-nonsense functional tool watch adored by enthusiasts all over.
