The self-winding, high-frequency chronograph has a solid rose gold case, with the bridges elaborately pierced and decorated. Kalpagraphe Chronomètre boasts a baffling level of harmony and proportionality based on the Fibonacci sequence. The Kalpagraphe Chronomètre The first tonneau-shaped integrated chronograph to be entirely manufactured by Parmigiani Fleurier Parmigiani Fleurier is a textbook example of a high-end collector’s watchmaker, with products ideal for those who appreciate the craft of horology. The brand is young in watchmaking terms, having first opened their doors in 1996, but they are led by a highly respected watchmaker, and have quickly caught the attention of the watchmaking elite. An exceptionally exquisite line in Parmigiani's impressive portfolio is the Kalpa collection. The Kalpa line has been a part of the brand since 2001. An icon of the brand, conceived by founder Michel Parmigiani, the Kalpa collection boasts a baffling level of harmony and proportionality based on the golden ratio and the Fibonacci sequence. The Kalpagraphe Chronomètre, featured here, is the first tonneau-shaped integrated chronograph to be entirely manufactured by Parmigiani Fleurier. The movement is shaped to fit exactly inside the case, which speaks of the integration between the contents and the container – the mechanical heart and the exterior aesthetics of the watch, both of which have always been so important for Michel Parmigiani. This COSC-certified, self-winding calibre presents an integrated shaped chronograph and a 65-hour power reserve. The column wheel with vertical clutch enables the watch to accurately display the time to the nearest tenth of a second and considerably increases a user's comfort. The extremely high-quality finishes are also a core component of the Parmigiani Fleurier Manufacture’s philosophy. While their minute detail is an art in its own right, it is also an act of love, carried out to ensure the longevity and protection of the watch. Parts are generally readily available, and timekeeping and function are rarely a problem. Modules are a different story. The ETA 2894-2, for example, is very tricky to service. - Tolerance - The quality of a chronograph module isn’t always what it should be. They often aren’t finished as well as other movements are and they sometimes lack the tolerances one might expect from a modern movement, specially when shelling out for haute horlogerie. - Stability - Integrated chronographs are very stable in the way they tell time due to the fact they aren’t technically connected; modules, on the other hand, aren’t as stable. When a modular chronograph is started and stopped, the regular second's hand will shudder (almost as if it is receiving a knock) but this is simply a symptom of the gearing being run through the module. The movement is organised around a central column wheel which is the nerve centre of the chronograph, the part which synchronises all its elements. This piece is more difficult to create and more precious than a simple cam. The expertise required to produce it lends the movement extra nobility, as well as making it perceptibly smoother when operating. This is what we call the chronograph’s activation ergonomics. The vertical clutch is another complex technical feature but is technically more accurate than its sister, the horizontal clutch. The action of this device boosts the accuracy of measurements by enabling the chronograph to start up immediately and without the slightest initial jolt. The famous hand-wound shaped movement is housed in an iconic case whose curves have been redesigned to produce tauter lines, for a more contemporary style. Made from 18kt rose gold, this characterful case is entirely hand-polished. MRP: ₹ 30,38,000 For more information, please call [+91 8725028890](tel:8725028890) or [+91 8725028894](tel:8725028894). [Click here to connect with us on WhatsApp.]( Harmonious lines of the watch’s profile The Kalpa’s curved profile faithfully follows the curve of the wrist, an indication of its incomparable ergonomics. The chronograph’s two push-buttons are perfectly incorporated into the Kalpa collection’s stylistic features. Once again, geometric shapes are used to enhance a sense of harmony. On the case’s profile, the two push-buttons and the crown are perfectly aligned, bearing witness to the chronograph integrated into the piece. The 18-karat rose gold case of the Kalpagraphe Chronomètre is all about balance and comfort. It sounds simple; however, to achieve this, the intricacies are quite complex. We see tighter, more contemporary lines and a slight concavity, based on Fibonacci sequence numbers, which add character and dynamism. The short, tear-drop lugs have also been resized and realigned since earlier editions, making for a perfect fit of the 48.2mm by 40.9mm case on the wrist. The crown has been enlarged, and the tonneau opening more visible – especially at the back where more of the movement can be viewed. Elegance and clarity are presented with surfaces alternating between guillioché, snailing and opaline finishes, accented with hand-applied faceted indices. Delta-shaped hands are a new addition to this timepiece, resized and with a luminescent coating. With the Kalpagraphe Chronomètre, Parmigiani intriguingly presents a more classical chronograph layout, compared with its immediate predecessor, with symmetrical sub-dials on an abyss blue dial. Hours, minutes, small seconds and chronograph functions work alongside a tachymeter scale. The date window is curved and shows three numbers, while the first of the month is highlighted in bright red. [Click here to connect with us on WhatsApp.]( About a brand that defines haute horlogerie and runs a unique restoration workshop The Parmigiani Fleurier brand is a watchmaking adventure guided by Michel Parmigiani, a master horologist and renowned restorer, who got his start in restoration work in the 1970s. Earning a name for himself among watch museums and collectors, who noticed his talents, in 1996, Michel Parmigiani acquired the production means and resources to create a brand that would bear his own name. Today, the brand's headquarters in Fleurier, Switzerland, include a workshop where antique timepieces are restored. Significant inspiration is drawn from here in developing new timepieces for Parmigiani Fleurier, such as the Ovale Pantographe, inspired by an original Vardon and Stedman pocket watch from the early 1800s, as well as the Toric Capitole, inspired by a repeating, wandering-hour pocket watch with spotted serpent gongs by Perrin Frères.
