Blending elegant aesthetics and functions essential for a modern traveller, the Toric Hémisphè

Blending elegant aesthetics and functions essential for a modern traveller, the Toric Hémisphères Rétrograde is a classic Parmigiani Fleurier watch An iconic Parmigiani Fleurier watch meets the world of modern travel Parmigiani Fleurier Toric Hémisphères Rétrograde Winner of the Travel Time Watch award at the Grand Prix d’Horlogerie de Genève Parmigiani Fleurier is one of those Swiss watchmakers that aren't easy to forget and every time they launch a new, jaw-dropping watch, you realise why they’re so beloved by watch enthusiasts who are in the know. The brand is a relatively young one as Swiss fine watchmaking houses go. It was founded only in 1996, but quickly established a reputation for making very high quality watches with a distinctive design vocabulary that's rooted in elements of classical architecture. Their watches have some incredible in-house movements and the brand goes the extra mile in terms of finishing, both inside and outside the timepieces. The gorgeous Toric Hémisphères Rétrograde, rose gold travel watch is just an example of some of its fine work. To the untrained eye, the Toric Hémisphères Rétrograde from Parmigiani Fleurier presents an exceptionally refined take on the dual-time-zone wristwatch, ideal for seasoned globe-trotters and armchair travellers alike. To those familiar with Parmigiani Fleurier’s founder Michel Parmigiani’s background in antique watch and clock restoration, however, the 22-karat rose-gold timepiece represents everything his contemporary brand has accomplished since its founding. The Parmigiani Toric Hémisphères Rétrograde is a travel watch powered by a cleverly constructed movement. Its mechanical movement with automatic winding allows for the time in two different places to be read down to the minute, thanks to its two independent time indications. It’s undoubtedly a grail watch for aficionados. MRP: ₹2,390,000. For more information, please call [+91 8725028900](tel:8725028900) or [+91 8725028890](tel:8725028890). The piece was derived from a pocket watch, serviced in Parmigiani’s restoration workshop, containing two movements inside a single case, each responsible for its own time zone. Parmigiani Fleurier uses a module indexed to the main movement in order to govern the second time zone. By pulling out the small crown at two o’clock, the module is disengaged from the movement, meaning that it can be adjusted independently of the second time zone, to the nearest minute. When the crown is pressed back in, the movement and the module re-engage and the second time zone is re-indexed to the first so that they operate simultaneously with the desired interval. The Toric Hémisphères Rétrograde unites the twin accomplishments described above into a single handsome model. Is it any wonder then that the piece was the 2017 winner in the Travel Time category of the prestigious Grand Prix d’Horlogerie de Genève (AKA the Oscars of watchmaking)? Although there are many ‘travel’ watches in the market, the Toric Hémisphères Rétrograde is almost in a class of its own. Several notable travel timepieces such as the Rolex GMT-Master and the Jaeger-LeCoultre Reverso Duo are only equipped with an adjustable secondary hour display, which makes it pointless for time zones with a variance of 30 or 15 minutes. MRP: ₹2,390,000. For more information, please call [+91 8725028886](tel:8725028886) or [+91 8725028883](tel:8725028883). Within it, you see Fibonacci's spirals, reproducing a harmony that is everywhere in nature. ". - Michel Parmigiani, Founder, Parmigiani Fleurier The Toric collection includes some of the most prestigious horological complications in Parmigiani Fleurier's range. It is immediately recognisable thanks to its case, which features doubly alternating gadroons and knurling. This aesthetic, designed by Michel Parmigiani for his first wristwatch, is based on the golden ratio, which creates tangibly harmonious proportions. The golden ratio is at the very heart of the Toric – the most obvious example of which is the bezel. The triple gadroons aren’t all equal; they’re the precise ratio of the Doric columns of the Parthenon, down to the knurled detailing of the middle ring. Executed entirely by hand, the rice grain guillochage mimics concentric patterns that can be found in the natural world. The result is a collection of unsurpassed harmony, a perfectly balanced watch from silhouette to finer details. Classic, elegant creations of timeless beauty, Toric watches are genuine mechanical watchmaking treasures. With a tourbillon, chronograph, perpetual calendar, minute repeater featuring cathedral chimes; the collection is completed by other complications, rendered even more precious by their rarity, such as the Toric Capitole, featuring a highly poetic display of the passing hours. MRP: ₹2,390,000. For more information, please call [+91 8725028900](tel:8725028900) or [+91 8725028890](tel:8725028890). The grained effect is produced by rubbing silver powder onto a brass plate to create a textured surface. The force and duration of the rubbing action and the properties of the silver mixture determine how pronounced and luminous the final grain is. Everything is done by hand with a horsehair brush. The artisans who craft these dials spend many years finding the ideal. The dial of the Toric Hémisphères Rétrograde is designed so that the most important functions stand out in a very specific hierarchy. It is lined with a minutes track and rose gold gilded indices on the periphery. Firstly, the hands of the main time zone, plated in 4N gold, are coated with SuperLuminova to make them luminous and more prominent. Meanwhile, the hands of the second time zone are rhodium-plated to present a more discreet shade. The sunken sub-dials and indicators add complexity to the dial maker’s craft, and is well-executed and a delight to admire. A contrasting display between the sub-dials at the six and 12 o’clock positions also adds a lighthearted nuance to the dial. The rest of it is understated, discreet and harmonious to avoid any distractions when reading these key temporal indications. MRP: ₹2,390,000. For more information, please call [+91 8725028900](tel:8725028900) or [+91 8725028890](tel:8725028890). [Click here to connect with us on WhatsApp.]( The 42mm rose gold case, with gadroons and knurling, is a reminder of traditional Parmigiani design codes The 42mm case of the Parmigiani Toric Hémisphères Rétrograde is made with 22-karat rose gold in a polished, three-piece construction case. It uses the signature knurled bezel of the Toric family. Apart from the size, the case aesthetics do remind us of the Rolex Cellini. The case is fitted with sapphire crystal for the glass, as well as the unsymmetrical open caseback. The icing on the cake is the nicely polished lugs and a fascinating step bezel. The rose gold crown bears the Parmigiani logo, elegant with its well-defined cut grooves. MRP: ₹2,390,000. [Click here to connect with us on WhatsApp.]( An exquisitely decorated and reliable movement – calibre PF317 The Parmigiani Fleurier Toric Hémisphères Rétrograde uses the PF317 movement, a 4Hz self-winding calibre offering 50 hours of power reserve. The base calibre was first used in the Tonda Hémisphères and was a world first. In 2017, the dual-time movement is now used in the Toric collection and with an added retrograde date. What remains fascinating, however, is how a single movement in a case can be used to display two independently adjustable time zones, accurate to the minute. The finishing of the movement is aesthetically pleasing. On the back of the piece, the movement is entirely decorated with Côtes de Genève and circular-grained to the highest haute horlogerie standards. It incorporates a 22-karat rose gold guilloché oscillating weight to add a prestigious touch The Parmigiani Fleurier Toric Hémisphères Rétrograde is completed by a black alligator strap, crafted by Hermès.
