The Tillies' chance for a home trophy, the Pies fan left 'a broken man' after a ban, and our Paralympic uniforms revealed – check them out below! Do you have feedback on the newsletter? This is the place to offer it. It should only take you about 5 minutes. – Beth Newman, the hack covering for Patrick Stack Man, wearing a hoodie, sitting at a podium, speaking into a microphone Help, I’ve been lied to. Normally when I have the opportunity to write this newsletter, I look for a sport issue that I can unpack in a way that provides a bit of lightness to the week. This week, however, I’m a little bit grumpy, though maybe not as grumpy as Ange Postecoglou. Why? Well, apparently, I’ve been lied to my whole life. According to Kansas City Chiefs kicker Harrison Butker, in fact, all women have. In a commencement speech at Kansas’ Benedictine College, Butker declared: "I think it is you, the women, who have had the most diabolical lies told to you. "Some of you may go on to lead successful careers in the world, but I would venture to guess that the majority of you are most excited about your marriage and the children you will bring into this world.” It’s unclear if the three-time Super Bowl champion went home and explained this to his mother, who is an accomplished medical physicist. I don't really want to spend any time explaining exactly why this made me a bit peeved, so instead I’d like to mention some of the inspiring women in sport who should be living rent-free in our heads this week instead. In our own backyard, NSW took the honours in the Women’s State of Origin opener in front of a record crowd at Lang Park, and Jaime Chapman stole the show. Over in the UK, everyone needs to circle January 24, 2025 because that’s the day Welsh woman Helen Ryvar will hit 1000 consecutive half-marathons. She’s just ticked past 743 and every day she extends her world record. In America, WNBA No.1 draft pick Caitlin Clark is continuing to create change in women’s basketball as she starts her pro career. Just a little bit north of that, the Olympic battle is heating up in the pool with Canadian Summer McIntosh clocking the fastest 400m freestyle time of the year, laying down the gauntlet for our Arnie. Back home, in a boon for Australia’s sports fans, the Matildas will have a chance to shoot for more tournament glory on home soil with Australia awarded the 2026 Asian Cup hosting rights. My ABC SPORT colleagues Poppy Penny and Sam Lewis discussed what the next two years looks like for the Tillies this week. Ahhh, that feels better. If you feel like you need to catch up on the Butker saga, here’s the latest. ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ [view as a webpage](qgjex/0907240265532324-XDYDQNOLXLTNLRIH-JH77FBTVA5CUQGQL/saurhsmcr~8575081213867975948191737099qaf7mrc77uuls/rfihsxtq-79997lld9999999hsbmomvnwqlizfsyeahg76/UEIVLDCU-aas) [ ](qgjex/0907240265532324-XDYDQNOLXLTNLRIH-JH77FBTVA5CUQGQL/saurhsmcr~8575081213867975948191737099qaf7mrc77uuls/rfihsxtq-79997lld9999999hsbmomvnwqlizfsyeahg76/UEIVLDCU-aas) ya/3341771863097351-IVUAJXEZHKVOCQHG-HJCLCRGPGHIBV6RE/saurhsmcr~8575081213867975948191737099qaf7mrc77uuls/uccdagch-79997lld9999999hsbmomvnwqlizfsyeahg76/P5ZUJGAH-hbi diqc/6690610081330584-DUJBWTDWXHQNHBID-QGZJLWWIRG2HTTL1/saurhsmcr~8575081213867975948191737099qaf7mrc77uuls/noxjhaff-79997lld9999999hsbmomvnwqlizfsyeahg76/U1TL4CUL-doi If-would like to unsubscribe and-Stop Receiving These-emails [unsubscribe](nst/1889080943834564-JBUDLPZLEGZDBUXI-KCDGJAQLSV0EJF9F/saurhsmcr~8575081213867975948191737099qaf7mrc77uuls/ouqajqln-79997lld9999999hsbmomvnwqlizfsyeahg76/1AO4NJNX-asx) * If you do not want to receive this mailer, please unsubscribe here.
