Ever since she ascended as the presidential nominee of her party, Vice President Kamala Harris has been riding a wave of something I thought had been lost in this country since around half-past Tet ’68: fun without meanness; joy, uncontaminated by bile and spite, happiness, for its own sake. It certainly did not hurt that she chose Coach Santa Claus for a running mate.
