I have spent most of the past few months painting and getting a head start on my 2024 exhibitions. This year will take me to La Quinta, Scottsdale, Japan, Texas, and France, all in the first half of the year. Whew! This month I am working on a new collection called Landscapes of the West, which will be displayed at the Sears Art Museum in St George, Utah, from June 7th through August 23rd. Peek below for a look at my most recent works, and keep scrolling for a recap of my [upcoming events](. Enjoy! Erin P.S. Don't miss our special "Gift with Purchase" on all orders over $500 on [www.erinhanson.com]( this month. "Blooming Boughs" Original Oil Painting by Erin Hanson 2024 70 x 100 in Cherry blossoms in Oregon's Willamette Valley are an inspiration to me every spring. I wait eagerly for the trees to hit "full bloom," and then I rush out with my camera to get inspiration shots. My favorite scene to paint is looking up into cherry blossom boughs with a bright blue sky behind. The delicate pink and white cherry blossoms are like little stars of beauty against the saturated blue backdrop. The turquoise waters seem to capture the very light from the darkening sky. I used thick, expressive brush strokes to capture the red rocks and mountains of Zion, laying my strokes side by side without overlapping. Note: "Watchman at Zion" will be included in the [Erin Hanson: Landscapes of the West]( solo museum exhibition at the Sears Art Museum in St. George, Utah. This museum exhibition, located at the gateway to Zion National Park, will showcase Erin Hanson's largest collection of Western landscape paintings, including paintings of Zion, Bryce, Arches, Cedar Breaks, Arizona, and other Western inspirations. This beloved cypress tree has a lot of history and is the most photographed and painted tree on the Monterey Peninsula. This painting by Erin Hanson captures the beautiful colors of dusk with thick, expressive brush strokes. This painting was inspired by a dawn hike along the Pa'rus Trail in Zion National Park. Impasto brush strokes of oil paint and loose, painterly brush strokes capture this national park's vivid colors and motion. Erin is traveling to Japan this spring to capture Japan's cherry blossoms. Cherry blossoms (桜, sakura) are a central motif in the Japanese worship of nature, signifying birth, death, beauty, and violence. Their brief blooming period is woven together in Japanese lore with the brief but colorful life of the samurai. Erin Hanson's Cultivated Blooms collection will include several paintings of Japanese cherry blossoms. Prepare to immerse yourself in the vibrant colors, graceful brushstrokes, and ethereal symbology of flowers. Mark your calendars for July 13th, 2024, and experience an unforgettable journey through this exquisite collection at The Erin Hanson Gallery. D A T E Saturday, July 13th, 2024 1 pm - 5 pm L O C A T I O N The Erin Hanson Gallery 1805 NE Colvin Ct McMinnville, Oregon 97128 [CULTIVATED BLOOMS]( Erin Hanson: Landscapes of the West Sears Art Museum @ Utah Tech University The Sears Art Museum in St. George, Utah, is proud to host Erin Hanson's solo museum show, Landscapes of the West. This is Erin's first return to St. George since 2016. The exhibition will include thirty paintings of southern Utah and the Colorado Plateau. Hanson works in bold colors, thickly applied paint, and expressive brushwork, capturing the drama and beauty of the American West. Originally inspired by rock climbing at Red Rock Canyon, Erin Hanson has been painting the desert landscapes of southern Utah and the Colorado Plateau for the past fifteen years. She uses a limited palette of only five colors, and after pre-mixing her entire palette, she paints without overlapping her brush strokes, keeping her pieces fresh and alive with movement. Hanson’s goal when painting is to re-capture the feeling of being out-of-doors, surrounded by the wild beauty of nature. ERIN HANSON has been painting in oils since she was eight years old. As a young artist, she worked at a mural studio, creating 40-foot-tall paintings on canvas while selling art commissions on the side. After getting a degree in Bioengineering from UC Berkeley, Erin became a rock climber at Red Rock Canyon, Nevada. Inspired by the colorful scenery she was climbing, she decided to paint one painting every week for the rest of her life. She has stuck to that decision since becoming one of the most prolific artists in history. Erin Hanson's style is known as "Open Impressionism" and is now taught in art schools worldwide. With thousands of collectors eagerly anticipating her work and millions of followers online, Hanson has become an iconic driving force in the rebirth of contemporary impressionism.
