No images? [Click here]( [Erin Hanson - Landscapes in Oil]( [ORIGINALS]( | [PRINTS]( | [B]([OOKS]( in search of B E A U T Y Beauty is often found in unexpected places. Here's a fun fact: one of my most prominently recognizable pieces [[The Path](, 2014] was inspired by my drive home through the suburban streets of Los Angeles, watching a setting sun peeking through the oak trees lining the street. I hope you enjoy these latest pieces, fresh from my easel. Warmly, Erin F R E S H from the E A S E L Dawning Light, 36 x 50 in Whale Rock lake near Paso Robles, California, is captured in viridian hues and thick, impressionistic brush strokes. The wide expanse of this landscape vista is captured in all its springtime beauty. The impasto nature of the oil paints creates a changing rhythm of texture through the painting. [View: DAWNING LIGHT]( Vines at Dawn, 40 x 50 in Rolling hills of cultivated grapevines create layers of colors in the landscape, in this painting of California wine country. The impasto brush strokes are thickly applied, without overlapping, creating a mosaic of texture and color across the canvas. This painting captures all the beauty of wine country at dawn. [View: VINES AT DAWN]( Rising Moon, 24 x 30 in A sunset full of riotous color exclaims across the sky in this northwestern painting. The brush strokes are loose and impressionistic, creating a mosaic of color and texture across the canvas. [View: RISING MOON]( Alpine Blues, 30 x 40 in Lake Tahoe is captured in alpine hues of turquoise and ultramarine blue. The clear waters are a beautiful contrast to the warm pink and yellow boulders that encircle the lake. Each brush stroke is placed with a vivacious, expressive sense of motion and joy. [View: ALPINE BLUES]( Coastal Color, 12 x 12 inches Saturated colors fill the canvas with vibrant hues of springtime, in this painting of California's Highway 1. The impressionist brush strokes capture the transient light of late afternoon. [View: COASTAL COLOR]( Oasis Blues, 11 x 14 inches Thousand Palms Oasis near Palm Springs is captured in vivid hues of green, blue, and purple. The thickly-applied brush strokes add texture and movement to the painting, drawing your eye into the cool shade beneath the palms. [View: OASIS BLUES]( BEHIND the ART an interview excerpt with Erin Hanson You’ve talked about your dad’s role in encouraging you. Any specifics? What did your parents do? My parents are not painters, but they are both musicians. Growing up understanding the importance of daily practice to hone your skills, it was natural for me to apply that diligence to painting. My dad used to tell me that to become a master painter, I should begin by drawing five life sketches every day. I drew everything around me from the cats to the trees. I remember spending Saturday mornings sitting on the bathroom sink so I could draw my face profile in the mirrored door. My grandfather was a painter, I inherited his wooden painting box marked “HANSON,” which I still use to this day (along with the wooden easel my father made me for my 10th birthday.)
