[ Hey {NAME}, After four years of Donald Trump, President Biden’s joint address to Congress last week was a much-needed breath of fresh air. He underscored the need for a bipartisan approach to governance. One that prioritizes long-term legislative solutions — not just short-sighted political wins. President Biden’s emphasis on working across political lines to overcome the COVID-19 pandemic, create jobs, and help America invest in infrastructure, clean energy, and a brighter future for all is something that I wholeheartedly believe in. I’ve said it before, but it bears repeating: Congress shouldn’t be like WWE wrestling. You can’t smash chairs over someone’s head in the ring, then hang out backstage like it was all an act, and still expect to make any real progress on behalf of the people who elected us. The preoccupation with putting on a political show on social media and television often devastates the relationships required for bipartisan cooperation. Our legislative branch seems to have devolved into a never-ending argument rather than an argument of principles and policy. This distracts Americans from real issues like protecting voting rights, rebuilding our nation’s infrastructure, and ending the scourge of gun violence. With Donald Trump’s presidency behind us, we have a new opportunity for bipartisanship, collaboration, and true problem solving to take place. That’s what I will be focused on over the coming months in Congress. NOT petty politics. Your support lets me continue to focus on the issues at hand, and deliver real relief to the Americans most in need during this unprecedented moment in history. Thank you for being a member of this team, and for your unwavering support. — Rep.
