For me, that means fluffy buttermilk pancakes with bacon and eggs and—because it’s May—roasted strawberry sauce to drizzle over the whole thing (yes, even the bacon and eggs!). It’s not quite peak strawberry season here in the Northeast, so to give middling berries a flavor boost, I roast them in the oven with a bit of sugar, which intensifies their strawberry-ness, and creates a nice, pourable syrup. Whether you whip this up for yourself, your friends, or your mama, it’ll always make breakfast a special occasion.
