Having switched to the Canon RF system, I invested in three zooms covering from ultra wide-angle to telephoto and overall, I’m very happy with them in so many ways. None the less, on occasion, despite apparently having all bases covered, I was sometimes left in a state of feeling unfulfilled; it was like having an itch I couldn’t scratch. My zooms were f/4 or slower and even with these modest maximum aperture zooms they are quite chunky lenses. Zooms have many benefits, but fast apertures and compactness are not two of them.
