[Energy and Capital logo] How to Profit from America’s Deadliest Epidemic [Jeff Siegel Photo] By [Jeff Siegel]( Written Nov. 23, 2018 We’re a nation of blamers. Whenever we’re confronted with a problem, the first response is to find the “guilty party.” Who’s going to take the fall? Who’s going to be thrown under the bus? Who’s going to be placed in the modern-day stockades of social media criticism while armies of vulture ambulance chasers try to steal the wallets of roadkill pawns? In the latest move to end America’s opioid epidemic, the state of Florida is suing Walgreens and CVS, claiming that the two drugstore chains are partly to blame for the nation’s opioid crisis by “overselling painkillers and not taking precautions to stop illegal sales.” Walgreens and CVS are now part of a group of pharma companies and opioid distributors that are being targeted by the Sunshine State for essentially serving as a catalyst for the opioid epidemic. While there’s no doubt that there’s plenty of blame to go around, including the pharmaceutical companies and some of the less-ethical pharmacies and doctors, Florida’s lawsuit is not going to end the opioid problem we’re facing today. Lawsuits and opportunistic district attorneys cannot help folks end their addictions to opioids, nor can they keep folks from getting their hands on this stuff. And while I shed no tears for the pharmaceutical companies that have aggressively pushed doctors to prescribe these dangerous drugs, even when they weren’t necessary, the only thing that’s really going to make a dent in this very real crisis is capitalism. "3 Stocks to Cure America's Drug Crisis" They trade for $1, $4.60, and $25. Sales for these lifesaving drugs have skyrocketed. It's gone from $5 million only a few years ago to $29 million today. All three companies address the three most important and difficult challenges of this drug epidemic: - Prevention. - An overdose antidote. - A safe, nonaddictive pain reliever to replace opioids altogether. You can expect to make two times, three times, and even four times your money on these companies. Get in on this now by [clicking here](! This Is Personal I don’t mean to sound brash, but the bottom line is that if we wait for the government to fix this problem, we’ll be waiting a very long time, and a lot more folks will die. Fortunately, the free market has spawned a number of new solutions to the opioid epidemic that has been responsible for the deaths of more than 200,000 people. These solutions are being provided by companies that have developed medications that can bring folks back from overdoses. These are companies that have developed new treatments that can eliminate opioid addictions altogether. These are companies that have developed new painkillers that can work as legitimate replacements for some opioid medications, without the threat of addiction. I realize I may sound a bit over the top regarding this issue. But for me, it’s personal. Crisis = Opportunity Yesterday afternoon, as we sat around inhaling turkey, mashed potatoes, and cranberry sauce, it was hard to not think about some of my friends who have died over the past two years from opioid overdoes. That’s right, I said friends. As in more than one. Since 2017, I’ve had to say goodbye to three friends who all died of opioid overdoses. All three got addicted to these things pretty quickly, and all three overdosed because they couldn’t beat their addictions. These are people who had families. They had friends, cousins, brothers, and sisters. And this year, they weren’t sitting around the dinner table for Thanksgiving. They weren’t sharing the things they were thankful for. They weren’t talking about the “good old days” or sitting around the television watching the football game.
