The problem isnât even... [Energy and Capital Header] Practical Investment Analysis for the New Energy Economy Nuclear Power Stocks to Buy Keith Kohl | Jun 20, 2024 Nuclear power stocks have a problem. Iâll bet it subconsciously came to you just now, too. You may not have meant to conjure frightening images of mushroom clouds in your mind, but thereâs a good chance that itâs the first thing that popped into your head. Donât feel too bad, because youâre not alone. Go ahead and ask anyone around you to describe nuclear energy, and tell me what they say. The first thing theyâll describe is a horrific scene from World War II, the proliferation of nuclear weapons during the 20th Century, or perhaps theyâll start off with Chernobyl. Maybe youâll get a descriptive story of insidious people wearing hazmat suits from some evil corporation dumping barrels of toxic green ooze into a nearby river. These depictions couldnât be further from the truth when it comes to todayâs nuclear industry. New Nuclear Energy Could Mint Millionaires A new kind of nuclear power is about to transform the grid. Forbes calls it "the go-to energy source in America." Itâs called a small modular reactor, or SMR. The first one of these cutting-edge reactors is expected to come online on U.S. soil this year. Tech billionaire Marc Andreessen calls for "1,000 new state-of-the-art nuclear power plants in the U.S. and Europe right now." AND almost ALL these SMRs have to buy fuel from one Midwestern company. Most people donât even know this company exists... Thatâs why shares are set to skyrocket as soon as this story hits the mainstream. [Get the full story here while thereâs still time.]( However, it IS true that nuclear power does have a major issue, but itâs not what most people expect. Itâs not concern over a nuclear explosion that weâre worried about, which is impossible with the reactors we use today. Nor is it a safety issue, considering nobody in the public has ever died in the history of the U.S. nuclear industry. The problem isnât even nuclear waste, either, which surprises every single person I talk to. No, the problem is an image one. Nuclear Power Stocks: Solving an Energy Crisis Letâs be crystal clear â nothing gives the kind of advantages that nuclear power does; no other source of power provides the amount of clean, reliable power on a massive scale. Last week, we talked a good bit about why weâre racing towards a serious power crunch here in the United States. Just taking the growing power demand weâll need from things like [data centers to fully embrace AI technology]( is staggering. You know as well as I do that an energy crisis may be the only thing that can bring the AI boom crashing back to Earth. But what most people donât realize is that one of those solutions is nuclear power. Weâre talking about a huge source of baseload power from plants that run 24/7 with absolutely zero emissions. And without it, weâre going to continue seeing what we just saw yesterday in India, where the second-largest coal consumer on the planet announced it was adding up to 15.4 GWof new coal-fired power capacity. For the record, thatâs higher than it has been in a decade. [The King of American Lithium (Not Albemarle)]( Mining giant Albemarle owns the only active lithium mine in America. But a tiny lithium company is about to change that. Itâs set to build Americaâs first large-scale lithium production facility, positioning itself to become one of the globe's leading mining giants. [Go here now for the full story.]( Nuclear Power Stocks to Buy Here in the U.S., we have a different sort of problem. While countries like India and China are bolstering their coal power capacity and hungry for more imports, coalâs story played out a little differently here. Our coal industry has been in a death spiral for over a decade, and weâre finally approaching a critical point when our aged coal fleet will experience an acceleration of retirements. There will be a point when the collective out there finally realizes that the path to net zero will be paved in clean nuclear power. China has embraced it, which is why their next-gen nuclear reactors are 15 years ahead of ours. But that sentiment may finally be changing as the U.S. Department of Energy is now looking to triple our nuclear capacity between now and 2050 â thatâs about 200 GW of power. For individual investors like us, that puts a huge target on traditional nuclear power stocks like Constellation Energy (NASDAQ: [CEG]() or Duke Energy (NYSE: [D](). Then again, some nuclear players like NuScale Power Corp. (NYSE: [SMR]() have been incredible wins that have gone the marketâs radar â a stock that has jumped nearly 400% this year! But my readers and I are looking for more... And weâve found it in a small, next-gen nuclear stock that has been working side-by-side with the Department of Energy for years developing the fuel that will power tomorrowâs reactors. Donât take my word for it here.
