Γ‚ Γ‚ Γ‚ A Roasted Brussels Sprouts with Sweet Chili Sauce Recipe Γ‚ Ree ([The Pioneer Woman]( Elise ([Simply Recipes]( and I used to host big parties for our food blogging community. It became somewhat of tradition. For about 5 years, anytime the three of us were in the same city at the same time, we loved to get people together, eat, dance and have a merry time. One of these shindigs was in Austin, Texas, and while there, I was on a mission to try the famous roasted brussels sprouts from restaurants Uchiko and East Side King Food Truck at The Liberty Bar. Both treated the brussels sprouts to an oven roasting and Asian sauce. While their official recipes harness a ton of ingredients and are a bit too complicated for personal kitchen cooking, I created an inspired recipe that's much simpler and includes only the bare necessities required to replicate these eateries' bold flavors. The combination of salty/sweet/savory/garlicky/sour PLUS the nuttiness from roasting will make you forget the first time your mom made you eat plain, soggy, bitter brussels sprouts when you were a kid, and turn any holiday brussels sprouts hater into a fan! [Click here for the full recipe!]( Γ‚ Γ‚ Γ‚ "As a kid, Christmastime was the most magical time of year for me. This was mainly due to the way my grandparents treated the holiday. Their home was small, but they welcomed family, friends, and friends of family into their home every year for home-cooked meals and present-opening festivities. My cousin and I were the only 2 kids in the family for many years, and we revelled in the distinct spirit of Christmas in the 90s as much as we could. One Christmas, my grandma, great-grandma, mom and aunt all got together around the dinner table to cut many pieces of felt into a Christmas tree shape and glue pieces together into a sort of pocket you could stick candy into. I don't even remember what compelled them to do this, but they made enough for every kid at my school. I was thrilled to help out, and this was probably integral to my enjoyment of creativity and crafting throughout the rest of my life. One of my favorite memories is of my family making Missouri Cookies every year for the holidays. I don't know how this started or where it came from. I only know that my grandma had this small handwritten recipe index card on her fridge of the recipe, and throughout the years, my mom, my aunt, and I have carried on the tradition of making many a batch for various gatherings. (Admittedly, some of those attempts were epic fails, and we would call each other occasionally to complain that these no-bake cookies weren't setting. As we overlooked weird gloppy blobs of chocolate and oatmeal, my grandma would always say, "You probably didn't boil the ingredients long enough." And she was usually right.) These memories are even more special to me these days, as my grandma passed just last December. About a year prior, she randomly sent me a letter. In it was the recipe card I grew up staring at on her fridge. The one for Missouri Cookies. And now it's on my fridge.ҝ€ï¸" Γ‚ Γ‚ Γ‚ Γ‚ Γ‚ We've rustled up a bunch of mouthwatering side dish recipes that'll make your holiday spread shine, no fuss required.
