Hi In the first lesson, we discussed how to come up with unlimited blog post ideas for FREE. In this email, we’ll talk about how to write a blog post that generates more traffic. We’re NOT going to talk about any fancy stuff as we’ll discuss a simple 5-step framework that we use to write SEO-friendly articles on our blog. Let’s dive into the details. Step 1: Write Compelling Headlines If your headlines are pathetic, no one will read your blog posts no matter how much time you spend creating them. Your headlines play a KEY role. Fortunately, there are a few blog post title generators you can use to quickly come up with amazing headline ideas for your posts. Tools for Writing Great Headlines: - [Inbound Now blog title generator]( - [SEOPressor title generator]( Here’s an example of the SEOPressor title generator; See that? When you enter a keyword or topic, the tool will instantly generate a ton of headlines for you. It’s totally free to use. Step 2: Formatting Is Everything No one likes to read a long and boring blog post. On our blog, we often publish 3000+ word blog posts. Still, our dwell time is really good (dwell time in simple terms is the amount of time a person spends looking at a webpage before clicking back to search results). The reason most people read our lengthy blog posts is they’re formatted the RIGHT way. Here are a few quick tips; - Use lots of bullet points - Use subheadings (show table of contents in your posts) - Use an FAQ section for every post you write - Use lots of visuals including images, illustrations, screenshots, etc - Break long paragraphs into 2 to 3-line paragraphs Tools for Blog Post Formatting: - Google Docs Google Docs is the BEST free tool to write and format your blog posts. The WordPress editor is good but Google Docs is BETTER (and it also saves your posts offline). Step 3: Optimize for SEO For every blog post, come up with one primary and multiple secondary keywords. We’ve already discussed how to do keyword research in the previous lesson (so go back to that in case you missed it). Once you have a list of primary keywords, optimize your post for SEO. After all, we ALL publish new blog posts to get more traffic from Google. Optimizing your content is not rocket science. Tools to optimize for SEO: - Rank Math You can use a [free plugin like Rank Math]( insert your primary keyword and it will suggest where to include that keyword for better rankings. Here’s what it looks like; See that? Rank Math gives a score for every post (once you insert the focus keyword). Based on that, you can include your keywords in titles, URLs, descriptions, etc. Step 4: Take Inspiration from Top-Ranking Pages Most people ignore reading and analyzing the top 10 ranking pages for their desired keywords. If a blog post is ranking on the first page, you need to take inspiration. You can analyze the following things. - What’s the average word count - Is it a blog post or video? - How is the blog post formatted? - How good is the headline Tools for analyzing competitors: - Google search for your desired keywords Step 5: Proofread Twice Once you’re finished writing your post, make it a habit of proofreading. Check your grammar, spelling, and punctuation to make your writing error-free. If possible, read your posts twice (if not thrice). Tools for proofreading: - Grammarly Grammarly is one of the best tools to proofread your posts. The premium version is better but the free version is not bad either. A Quick Checklist to Write A Perfect Blog Post If you want a handy checklist to write perfect blog posts, use the following checklist. - Come up with a great headline. Use blog title generator tools if you’re struggling. - Keep your introduction short. Don’t make it boring. - Use subheads. Add a table of contents section with jump links.  - Use lots of visuals. You can use tools like Canva to create featured images. Use sites like Unsplash for copyright-free images. - Optimize every single post you write. Use the Rank Math plugin. - Include an FAQ section at the end of every post and use long-tail keywords to rank better. - End your post with a conclusion. So there you go. Yes, it takes time to create every single blog post but it’s worth your time as you’ll attract more search traffic and sales if your posts are REALLY good. Your content is what sets you apart from the crowd. What’s coming up next? Stay tuned for the THIRD lesson as you’re going to learn how to improve your content writing skills (that comes to your email inbox on Tuesday at 11 AM IST).
