Democratic pro-choice women are the reason we won in Virginia ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ [EMILYs List]( All eyes were on Virginia last night. Abortion was on the ballot, in no uncertain terms. To put it simply, abortion access for millions of Americans living in the South was on the line as the strength of Democrats and our pro-choice movement were put to the test. Heading into last night, Democrats had a razor-thin margin in the Virginia state Senate, which was the only thing standing between Gov. Glenn Youngkin and his long-promised ban on abortion. This community stopped that nightmare scenario in its tracks. [EMILYs List will have hundreds more women endorsed for elections in 2024. Before we jump into last night's results: Can Democratic pro-choice women nationwide count on your support? Donate now.]( [ELECT DEMOCRATIC PRO-CHOICE WOMEN]( Here's the breakdown from last night's results in Virginia: - In the Senate, Democrats were defending a narrow two-seat majority. EMILYs List endorsed 10 Democratic pro-choice incumbents and candidates to protect open Democrat seats and flip Republican-held seats — and nine of our candidates won. Democrats held the state Senate, ensuring Gov. Youngkin's ban would never pass. - Democrats were on offense in the House of Delegates, and needed to flip three seats to take control of the chamber. And here's what happened: We not only protected our House numbers but expanded them, from 48 to a winning majority of 51 seats. The even better news? We can still add to this number because three of our endorsees' races are still too close to call! The message is crystal clear: when choice is on the ballot, choice wins. This millions-strong pro-choice community and the powerful women we endorse are a force to be reckoned with, and that's thanks to individuals like you. So let's show anti-choice Republicans across the country that we're not stopping at Virginia.
