Happy Holidays from our family to yours [ORVIS©]( [Men]( [Women]( [Fly Fishing]( [Dogs]( [GIFTS]( [Sale]( [Two men standing with snowy mountains in the background]( To Our Orvis Family, The holiday season is often a time of reflection, but it’s also the opportunity to anticipate the year ahead. At Orvis, we talk a lot about sacred moments of connection in the natural world that create lasting impressions: The flush of a grouse in the crisp morning air, bonefish tails breaking the surface of a flat on a calm evening, a dog’s nose in the breeze inhaling far more than human senses can apprehend. These moments rejuvenate the spirit and are definitively better with family and friends, which is why we try to get outside as often as possible with those who mean the most to us. Every June, Charley and I go tarpon fishing together in Florida with a guide whom we are lucky enough to call a good friend. It is a trip that our father has done for years, with the same guide, in the same place. In fact, every year he fishes the days either just before or after us, and we make sure we meet him for dinner at the local tiki bar or seafood restaurant to share hugs, laughs, and stories. This time on the water is a tradition that feeds the soul for several reasons: the challenge of presenting a fly to a line of incoming tarpon, the thrill of a 150-pound fish eating your fly, the adrenaline of heart-pounding jumps throughout the fight, and the high fives and smiles after the giant fish swims away. But the moment that is most sacred to Charley and me is right after we cut the boat engine at dawn, grab the rod, and scan the water for any sign of movement in the low light, sharing in the tranquility of the calm early morning–the anticipation of what’s to come. [Two men fishing, Photo Captain David Mangum, Shallow Water Expeditions]( So, in these last few days of 2023, we invite you to reflect on the adventures and the moments that are most sacred to you and start planning them for 2024 with that special friend or family member. And let us know how we can help, whether it’s finding the right lodge or guide, dialing in your cast, getting you into the gear or apparel that will help you make the most of the trip, or simply helping stoke the flame of anticipation. We love being your trusted guide in whatever capacity we can. These are the moments that matter, and it’s our privilege to share them with you. We hope this note finds you well and enjoying the time you’re spending with your family and friends. We look forward to seeing you in our stores, at our dealer locations, online, or in the field or on the water in the new year and hearing all the great stories and memories to come.
