Good Morning! Hey, there! It's Chris from Elite Trade Club, here to give you this morning's premarket trading news. It's Wednesday, September 27th. I hope you have a great day. Now, let's get ready to trade! Markets 📈 U.S. stocks sank like a stone on Tuesday. The Nasdaq sold off for 1.5%, followed by the S&P 500 with a 1.4% loss, and the Dow with a 1.1% decline. The small-cap Russell 2K closed 1.2% lower. This morning, futures are edging higher in the premarket. S&P 500 contracts are up 0.3% in early trading. [SEE THE PROOF HERE]( Premarket Highlights 🔎 ⚖ Government Sues Amazon in Sweeping Antitrust Case The Federal Trade Commission and 17 states filed an antitrust lawsuit against Amazon [AMZN] on Tuesday that accuses the eCommerce giant of operating an illegal online marketplace monopoly. The FTC's lawsuit was filed in Seattle's federal court, and the plaintiffs claim Amazon illegally wields monopoly power to keep prices high, lock sellers into its platform, and harms its rivals. The case will set up a major showdown between FTC commission Lina Khan's notoriously aggressive antitrust squad and one of the largest, most valuable companies in history. What to Watch Today 👀 Potential Rebound in Progress U.S. indexes sold off for more than 1.0% on Tuesday, after notching modest gains on Monday. So far, the S&P 500 and other large-cap indexes are down for the week, but futures are gaining ground this morning. The indexes could recapture a significant chunk of their gains, but it won't be an easy task, especially if investors maintain a bearish-leaning bias. Major Earnings 💰 Paychex, Inc. [PAYX] ... The interior furnishings company released its Q1 results in yesterday's aftermarket, and the quarterly report exceeded expectations. Millerknoll's EPS fell 15.91% from a year earlier to $0.37 per share in Q1, but it was still enough to easily beat the consensus estimate of $0.21 per share. Quarterly sales of $917.70 million were down 14.95% YoY and also beat the Street's $899.60 million consensus. Millerknoll also raised its full-year earnings guidance to a range that surpassed analysts' estimates. MLKN is up 16.4% in the wake of its earnings report. My Take: MLKN has had tremendous difficulty breaking through $20 per share, but this rally could help it finally make the leap. The real question is if it can hold onto its gains and find new support at the $20 mark. Gaucho Group [VINO] - Last Close: $2.09 Gaucho Group is heating up after a business update. The wine & hospitality brand release a Form 8-K business update on Monday, coinciding with the implementation of a 1-for-10 reverse stock split. The reverse split brought shares of VINO into compliance with Nasdaq's minimum bid price requirement, but the stock lost 12.5% on Tuesday after it took effect. Gaucho's business update seemed upbeat, but shares pulled back on Monday and Tuesday, regardless of the 8-K filing. However, it appears the stock's recent slid may have been overdone because shares are rebounding in the premarket. VINO is one of today's top stocks with a 30.6% gain. My Take: VINO opened the trading week at around $3, but it's now sitting closer to $2. That's a pretty sudden drop considering the move seemed to be triggered by the reverse split. There could be swing trade potential here. Galecto [GLTO] - Last Close: $0.571 A recent business update is boosting shares of Galecto. In yesterday's aftermarket, the biotech firm announced plans to reduce its workforce and explore strategic alternatives. Galecto said it will consider mergers, acquisitions, and other measures to maximize shareholder value as part of its strategic review. The company also plans to layoff 70% of its headcount in a sweeping restructuring campaign. GLTO is one of this morning's top stocks, with a 47.1% gain on active trading volume. My Take: GLTO has had a rough couple of months, but it could be a compelling buyout play if you're willing to speculate. After all, the company appears to be pursing some kind of deal, and shares could soar if there's a buyout. ShiftPixy [PIXY] - Last Close: $0.4350 ShiftPixy is trending after an announcement. Late Tuesday, the staffing solutions company announced a 1-for-24 reverse stock split that will become effective at the end of the month. Shares of PIXY will begin trading on a split-adjusted basis on Oct. 2nd. The announcement triggered a massive after-hours rally that is continuing in today's premarket. PIXY is today's top-performing premarket stock with a 150.5% gain. My Take: This move seems to be a little out of place, and I'm not sure why. A reverse stock split doesn't really explain it, but it's the only discernible catalyst. Watch for a pullback in PIXY. That's it for today! Thanks for reading, and good luck out there!
