Good Morning! Hey, there! It's Chris from Elite Trade Club, here to give you this morning's premarket trading news. Today is Wednesday, June 21st. I hope you have a great day in the market. Let's get ready to trade! Markets 📈 Markets edged lower to kick off the holiday-shortened trading week. The Dow lost 0.7%, while the S&P 500 fell 0.4%. The Nasdaq fared better with only a 0.1% loss, and the Russell 2K matched the S&P with a 0.4% decline. Futures are in the red in early trading. S&P 500 contracts are currently down by less than 0.1%. The shipping giants reported a drop in revenue for the third-straight quarter, and quarterly sales fell by 10%. Executives said they aren't expecting a turnaround anytime soon, thanks to inflation, higher rates, and a slowdown in global trade. What to Watch Today 👀 Powell Speaks Fed Chairman Jerome Powell will appear in front of a House panel at 10 a.m. ET today for the start of a semiannual two-day appearance in front of Congress. Be on the lookout for volatility around this time, as many veteran market-watchers expect Powell to strike a hawkish tone at the appearance. Major Earnings 💰 Patterson Companies, Inc. [PDCO] ... This morning, the materials company announced it produced its first ultra-pure recyled resin pellets at its recycled resin plant in Ironton, Ohio. PureCycle said the facility should produce 107 million pounds of the ultra-pure resins once it's full operational. PCT is one of today's hottest premarket stocks with a 15.4% gain. My Take: PCT is getting an extra boost from this news thanks to its elevated short ratio. On May 31st, 19.1% of the stock's total float was out on short trades, so a short squeeze may partly responsible for this big rally. Graphex Group [GRFX] - Last Close: $1.48 Graphex Group is running hot following a Tuesday announcement. Early yesterday, the materials processing firm said it retained investment bank Maxim to explore a potential spin-off of its Graphex Technologies division. Graphex says terms of any potential spinoff would be decided after Maxim's review. The Graphex Technologies unit is a mid-stream processor of natural graphite specializing in anode materials for lithium-Ion batteries for EVs & power storage. Share prices jumped 18.4% on Tuesday following the announcement, and the rally is continuing in today's premarket. GRFX is up 18.2% in early premarket trading. My Take: GRFX is getting some love as a play on EVs, but China stocks can be volatile and dubious. This rally has been a tad sudden, and it seems a bit overdone. There could be a pullback at some point in today's session. Advanced Health Intelligence [AHI] - Last Close: $0.74 Advanced Health just landed a big deal. The high-tech healthcare firm signed a letter of intent (LOI) with UAE-based e-script management company Pharmak Pharmacy LLC. Advanced Health announced the decision in a vague press release this morning that didn't include a lot of details about the terms of the agreement. The company also announced early redemption of a convertible notes worth a total of AUS$1.75 million. AHI is this morning's top stock with a 122.9% gain. My Take: AHI's press release didn't include any notes on financial details or terms of the LOI with Pharmak. The convertible note thing doesn't seem like a big deal. This is a weird rally, I expect a steep pullback at some point. LumiraDx [LMDX] - Last Close: $0.35 A favorable regulatory decision sparked a rally in shares of LumiraDx. The London-based diagnostics firm said UK regulators have approved its COVID Ultra, COVID, and RSV tests. The UK's Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) issued validation for use for Lumira's SARS-CoV-2 Ag Ultra, SARS-CoV2 Ag, & RSV tests. “With planning for the respiratory season already underway in some regions, we are delighted to have these tests commercially available,” said CEO David Walton. LMDX is up 36.8% on news of the approval. My Take: LMDX has had a rough 2023. Maybe this news can help the company sustain a turnaround, but I expect stiff resistance at the $0.50 mark. That's it for today! Thanks for reading, and good luck out there! Best Regards, Chris D. -- Elite Trade Club P.S...
