Good Morning! Hey, there! It's Chris from Elite Trade Club, here to give you this morning's premarket trading news. Today is Thursday, June 15th. I hope you have a great day in the market. Now, let's get ready to trade! Markets 📈 Stocks closed Wednesday's session with mixed results after Fed Chair Jerome Powell stressed the potential need for additional rate hikes at his press conference following the Fed's announcement that it would hold rates steady this month. The S&P 500 gained less than 0.1%, while the Nasdaq added 0.3%. The Dow fell 0.6%, and the small-cap Russell 2K sold off for a 1.1% loss. Today, futures are down in early trading. S&P 500 contracts are showing a 0.4% loss. Sponsored [A New American BOOM 💥]( China's dominance of this key supply chain puts America in a tough spot... Fortunately, the U.S. government is pulling out all the stops to boost production of this vital resource in an effort to break China's iron grip. Once company could be uniquely positioned to soar as a result of the boom.... And an upcoming announcement could send share prices soaring. [Get all the Details Here]( Premarket Highlights 🔎 🏛 Fed Signals More Hikes to Come The Federal Reserve held interest rates steady at its June policy meeting, but policymakers also signaled that more rate hikes may be required to bring inflation below the Fed's 2.0% target rate. Markets reacted negatively to the news, but there's also a shred of hope that inflation will continue to cool on its own. If the Fed sees reason to believe that inflation can correct itself, they may forego additional hikes. However, at this point, I don't think that's a likely scenario. What to Watch Today 👀 Retail Sales Today's retail sales report will give us a glimpse at the current state of the U.S. consumer. We saw big increases in retail spending earlier this year, but many economists are predicting a slowdown as we enter Summer. Median forecasts are calling for a 0.2% decline in retail sales from the previous month. A lower-than-expected number could drive extra volatility in today's trading session. After Wednesday's close, the SPAC announced that shareholders had voted to approve its request to extend the deadline for its business combination. The SPAC has proposed a combination with zSpace Inc, but the deal hasn't been closed yet. The deal-making deadline was previously set for today. After the shareholder approval, EdtechX now has until Dec. 15th, 2023, to close the transaction. EDTX is up 101.1% on news of the favorable shareholder vote. My Take: EDTX has performed surprisingly well this year, and this news sparked a massive rally in its shares. It looks like there's a lot of bullish sentiment behind this under-the-radar SPAC. Applied UV [AUVI] - Last Close: $2.01 Applied UV is trending after a product announcement. This morning, the company said is utilizing AI-driven software engineering services and solutions to expand and develop its proprietary indoor air quality solutions. Applied UV said it has engaged Quantiva, the provider of said AI software, to expand its Airocide and PURONet systems. The company said the developments will help solve the $400 billion post-harvest crop spoilage along supply chains. AUVI is up 13.9% on the news. My Take: This is just a buzz-word rally at this point. Anytime a company says it's using AI, shares go up, so don't put too much faith in this AUVI announcement. Microvision [MVIS] - Last Close: $4.60 A premarket announcement sparked a relief rally in shares of Microvision. Early this morning, the LiDAR firm canceled a previous announced public offering of its common shares, citing unexpected market volatility. However, CEO Sumit Sharma said the company plans to explore other capital raising opportunities. Microvision has previously planned an underwritten public offering of $75 million worth of common stock. News of the canceled offering lifted MVIS to a 21.5% gain in today's premarket. My Take: This LiDAR stock had a great start to the year, but it has pulled back significantly over the past couple of weeks. MVIS could have some swing trade potential. Dragonfly Energy [DFLI] - Last Close: $2.56 Dragonfly Energy is riding high after a patent announcement. This morning, the company said the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office approved its US Patent Application for streamlined productions of Li-ion batteries. According to Dragonfly's press release, the patent is for the "preparation and powder film deposition of pre-coated powders” during battery production. Dragonfly says the patent brings them one step closer to bringing its nonflammable LiFePO4 storage batteries to market. DFLI is up 18.3% after the patent announcement. My Take: DFLI appears to be making progress, and it could have a bright future if it can produce a non-flammable lithium battery capable of powering an EV. It looks like it's a little too early to get in, but I am keeping my eye on this one. That's it for today! Thanks for reading, and good luck out there!
