Futures move higher in premarket trading 📈

The small-cap Russell 2K edged lower by less than 0.1%. Stocks are rebounding in this morning's premarket trading session. S&P 500 futures are up 0.8%. What to Watch Today 👀 Alibaba Restructuring The Asian eCommerce giant made waves yesterday after announcing a deal to split the company into several business units and possibly pursue IPOs for each subdivision. Shares of Alibaba are running hot on the Hong Kong stock exchange, and it's likely to translate into positive momentum in today's American trading session. The niche apparel firm released its Q4 results after Tuesday's closing bell, and the report topped analysts' estimates. The company grew its earnings by 31% YoY to $4.40 per share in Q4, topping the Street's $4.26 EPS estimate. Revenues grew 30% to $2.8 billion for the quarter, which also surpassed analysts' $2.701 billion target. Lulu's Q1 and full-year 2023 earnings and revenue guidance also beat the Street's expectations. LULU is leading the Nasdaq 100 with a 16.2% gain on active trading volume in Wednesday's premarket. My Take: LULU always manages to perform well at earnings. This stock's resiliency never ceases to amaze me, and this was yet another home-run quarter for the company. Arcturus Therapeutics [ARCT] - Last Close: $15.50 Stronger-than-expected earnings are lifting shares of Arcturus Therapeutics. The biotech company crushed the consensus EPS estimate, and beat the Street's revenue targets in its Q4 earnings report issued late Tuesday. Arcturus generated EPS of $4.33 per share, while analysts' expected the company to deliver a $1.86 per share loss. The biotech firm's revenues grew 2,668% YoY to $160.29 million for the quarter, beating the consensus by 19.1%. ARCT is one of today's top stocks with a 29.4% gain. My Take: ARCT's earnings beat was outrageous, and its revenue growth was also jaw-dropping. The company has beat EPS estimates for three of the last four quarters, and it's beat its revenue targets on four straight quarterly reports. Local Bounti Corp [LOCL] - Last Close: $0.4494 Local Bounti just made a big announcement, and shares are turning higher. The tiny next-gen agriculture firm announced a major cash injection during its full-year 2022 earnings report on Wednesday morning. Local Bounti generated sales of $19.5 million, a drastic increase from 2021's $600,000 sales figure, on a loss of $1.07 per share. The company also secured a total of $145 million in new financing from a new credit facility deal with Cargill Financial Services and a sale-leaseback deal with a net-lease real estate investment trust. Local Bounti said the new financing will support its growth plans, and it will increase production immediately to meet accelerating demand for its products. LOCL is today's top premarket stock with a 71.3% gain on the news. My Take: This could be an interesting growth stock to watch. Next-gen farming could enjoy substantial support from both the public and private sectors in the years ahead, and LOCL is growing revenues at an impressive rate. Birds Global [BRDS] - Last Close: $0.1938 Birds Global is continuing its hot streak in today's premarket. The micromobility stock gained 42.1% on Tuesday after a Form SC 13D/A filing revealed Craft Ventures had amassed a significant position in the company. A day earlier, Birds Global also announced that several officers and directors had just purchased a total of 1.5 million shares. CEO Share Torchiana said the insider buys "reflect our ongoing confidence in Bird's future and our ability to increase long-term shareholder value. No major news has been reported since these headlines hit the market, but BRDS is still trending higher. Shares of BRDS are up 25.6% in today's premarket, making it one of the morning's top stocks. My Take: It looks like the short squeeze is officially "on" in this stock after yesterday's rally. BRDS continues to trend higher as a result of short sellers scrambling to buy shares and cover their positions. However, there could only be limited upside left in this move. That's it for today!
