[Image](www.elitetrade.club) Good Morning! Hey, there! It's Chris from Elite Trade Club, here to give you this morning's premarket trading news. Happy Tuesday! It's January 17th. I hope you had a great holiday weekend. Let's get ready to trade! Markets 📈 The Nasdaq closed out last week with a 0.7% gain on Friday, while the S&P 500 added 0.4% and the Dow advanced 0.3%. The small-cap Russell 2K was flat on the trading session. Today, index futures are down ahead of the first session of this holiday-shortened trading week. S&P 500 contracts are currently down 02%. The reports could shed more light on Wall Street's outlook for the U.S. economy. Major Earnings 💰 Morgan Stanley [MS] ... AM Goldman Sachs [GS] ... AM Citizens Financial Group [CFG] ... AM Signature Bank [SBNY] ... AM Silvergate Capital [SI] ... AM Interactive Brokers [IBKR] ... PM United Airlines [UAL] ... PM Pinnacle Financial [PNFP] ... PM Hankcock Whitney [HWC] ... PM Economy 🏗 - Empire State Manufacturing [Jan] ... 8:30a Running Hot 🔥 Gainers - Celyad SA [CYAD] >> +101.5% - Bit Digital [BTBT] >> +20.3% - Argo Blockchain [ARBK] >> +21.0% Decliners - Viveve Medical [VIVE] >> (67.1%) - Cyanotech [CYAN] >> (20.0%) - Angion Biomedical [ANGN] >> (26.4%) National Instruments [NI] - Last Close: $46.97 News of a buyout proposal is shaking up National Instruments today. Early this morning, Emerson Electric [EMR] announced an offer to buy the measurement equipment maker in a $7.6 billion deal. Under the terms of the all-cash proposal, Emerson would pay $53 per share to acquire National Instruments, marking a 12.8% premium to its Friday close. Emerson has been purchased 2.3 million shares of NI in recent weeks, and it has approval to increase its stake. Emerson says it will host a conference call at 8:30 a.m. today to discuss the proposal further. Shares of NI are up 13.6% on the news. My Take: This $7.6 billion deal is getting surprisingly little publicity this morning. However, shares of NI are already trading above the proposed acquisition price. It's hard to imagine there's worthwhile upside left in this trade at this point. MGO Global [MGOL] - Last Close: $4.65 MGO Global is moving higher after its stock market debut. The fashion stock completed its initial public offering last Friday, and the stock fell 7% in its first trading session. However, share prices are pivoting higher in today's premarket, and the stock is heating up ahead of today's open. There's no obvious catalyst to explain the move, but MGOL is one of today's top premarket stocks, with a 39.1% gain on active volume. My Take: I don't know if this upward move will have staying power, but the unusual activity in this stock is interesting. Data is limited because the stock just hit the market on Friday, but it could be worth watching closely this week. Tritium DCFC [DCFC] - Last Close: $1.49 Tritium DCFC just landed a huge order, and shares are heating up. The EV charging company announced this morning that it has secured the largest-ever order in the company's history from BP [BP]. Tritium will install chargers across BP stations in the U.S., U.K., Europe, and Australia as part of the gas giant's push to transition to EV infrastructure. The company also released preliminary financial data from CY2022 that showed record sales, revenues, and order backlog. However, financial details of the BP deal weren't immediately disclosed. DCFC is one of this morning's top stocks with a 31.5% gain. My Take: DCFC's record-breaking order is certainly a promising sign for the company, but, last Friday, Credit Suisse lowered its price target on the stock from $8 to $3 on concerns of 'strong' headwinds. Don't get caught holding the bag. Calyxt [CLXT] - Last Close: $0.1857 News of a merger deal is boosting shares of Calyxt. Early this morning, the company announced the signing of a definitive all-stock merger agreement with Cibus LLC, a Cellectis [CLLS] subsidiary. The merger will combine two companies focusing on agricultural-based gene editing to create an industry-leading precision genetics firm. The deal still needs approval from Calyxt shareholders, Cibus members, and regulators, plus the satisfaction of customary closing conditions. Both companies say they expect to close the deal sometime in Q2 2023. CLXT is one of this morning's top-performing premarket stocks, with an 89.6% gain on active trading volume. My Take: This deal could help these relatively tiny companies survive high interest rates and a slowing economy. CLLS is also up 7.0% on the news, so it appears the market really likes this deal for both sides. That's it for today! Thanks for reading, and good luck out there!
