I hope you have a great day! Now, let's get ready to trade! Markets 📈 Comments from Fed Chair Jerome Powell sent US indexes lower on Wednesday. The Dow lost 0.4%, and the S&P 50 fell 0.6%. The Nasdaq declined 0.7%, and the small-cap Russell 2K closed with a 0.6% loss. Today, futures are headed lower in the premarket. S&P 500 contracts are currently down 0.9%. [Get the Ticker & More Details Here]( Premarket Highlights 🔎 📉 Fed Raises Rates: The Federal Reserve's Board of Governors announced a 0.5% rate hike yesterday, and Chairman Jerome Powell said hikes will continue well into 2023. What to Watch Today 👀 Rate Hike Blues Investors were expecting a 0.5% increase for December, so no surprises there. However, the central bank also revised its projected interest rate path higher and cut its economic growth forecast. The Fed's hawkish stance will likely send stocks lower today and could drag on the market for the remainder of the trading week. International 🌍 Asia Hong Kong's Hang Seng sold off for 1.5% overnight, while India's BSE Sensex lost 1.4%. Japan's Nikkei 225 fell 0.3%. Europe European markets are in the red. The car-share company has been pummeled since making its market debut, but the sell-off may be bottoming out. GETR has fallen roughly 90% since the start of the month, despite almost no news to explain the move. However, it appears the lengthy slump may have been overdone because shares are rebounding sharply today. GETR is one of this morning's top performers with a 34.0% gain. My Take: Today's rally indicates that GETR's recent slide may have been overdone. It seems investors think the stock looks like a value at $1 apiece. The stock could stabilize and settle into a new trading range moving forward. Core Scientific [CORZ] - Last Close: $0.25 News of a bailout proposal is sending Core Scientific higher today. After Wednesday's closing bell, one of the company's lenders, B Riley, said it intended to extend an additional $72 million loan to the crypto mining firm. Core Scientific already has a loan with B Riley totaling $42 million, and the new loan would provide two years of runway before anticipating company profits. B Riley said that bankruptcy is not necessary, despite the company's dire financial conditions. CORZ is up 50.0% on news of the loan, and it's this morning's most actively traded stock. My Take: I expect this stock to be wildly volatile for as long as the crypto crisis is in the headlines. If CORZ can survive the tough times ahead, there could be significant upside in this trade, but that's a big "if". Crown Electrokinetics Corp [CRKN] - Last Close: $0.1535 Crown Electrokinetics is running hot after a big rally on Wednesday. The company broke out to a 17.1% gain yesterday after setting a new 52-week low earlier in the week, and it's still building momentum. Crown's Wednesday move came despite no obvious catalyst for the move, but the rally has extended into today's premarket. Depite the lack of a clear catalyst, CRKN is one of today's hottest premarket stocks. It's up 33.8% on active trading volume. My Take: Earlier in the month, CRKN urged shareholders to vote for its proposed amendments at its shareholder meeting on Dec. 22nd. The meeting could potentially explain some of the unusual activity we're seeing in this stock. Clearmind [CMND] - Last Close: $3.18 Clearmind is moving higher on news of clinical progress. Earlier in the week, the Israel-based pharma firm announced it had made major progress with its CMND-100 compound for alcohol use disorder. Clearmind said it completed the necessary studies to submit an investigational new drug application with regulators in preparation for the drug's first human trials. CEO Adi Zuloff-Shani says the company plans to submit its IND request in early 2023, and it's aiming to kick off Phase 1/2a trials in the US & Israel in early 2023. CMND gained when the new broke on Tuesday, but it took a 6.1% loss yesterday. Today, it's reversing course with a16.3% gain on active premarket trading volume. My Take: Not really sure what to make of this move, but I would guess that yesterday's interest rate news shook up this stock's trajectory.
