The small-cap Russell 2K closed with a 2.8% loss. Today, futures are pointing to more losses at the opening bell. S&P 500 contracts are down 0.4% in early-morning trading. Sponsored

- China's benchmark CSI 300 index tumbled to its lowest close since April 2020 on Monday after a spat of unfavorable economic news in the country. What to Watch Today ð Earnings Season We'll get our first wave of major corporate earnings reports for the third quarter this week. After several months of rate hikes, it will be the market's first real opportunity to see how higher interest rates impacted businesses' bottom lines in Q3. US benchmarks have been particularly volatile lately, and I expect this week's earnings schedule to create additional volatility this week. International ð Asia Hong Kong's Hang Seng Composite tumbled 2.9% overnight, while the Shanghai Composite lost 1.6%. Australia's ASX 200 closed with a 1.4% decline. Europe
Germany's DAX is showing a 0.4% gain, but most of the region's major indexes are in the red. The French CAC 40 is down 0.3%, and the Euro Stoxx 600 is showing a 0.1% loss. Major Earnings ð° None Economy ð - None Running Hot ð¥ Gainers
- Crown Electrokinetics [CRKN] >> +56.0%
- NeuroMetrix [NURO] >> +26.6%
- Leju Holdings [LEJU] >> +15.9% Decliners
- Missfresh Ltd [MF] >> (12.7%)
- Acm Research [ACMR] >> (26.8%)
- Minim Inc [MINM] >> (23.1%) American Tower Corp [AMT] - Last Close: $194.63 American Tower Corp is trending on some new rumors. The cell phone tower owner and operator is considering a bid for a stake in Vodafone's [VOD] $12.6 billion wireless towers unity, according to a Bloomberg report on Friday. Vodafone is planning to sell about 82% of its stake in Germany-based Vantage Towers, and has invited bidders to participate in the auction. Bids are expected as soon as next week. Bloomberg was unable to solicit a comment from either company, but the news is driving some activity in AMT. AMT is this morning's leading S&P 500 stock, with a 3.0% gain. My Take: AMT closed in the red on Friday, so it seems like the market isn't sure whether it entirely likes this news yet. This is a decent company, but it just fell through a key support level last week. If you like the stock, it might be prudent to wait until the selloff bottoms out. Nutex Health [NUTX] - Last Close: $0.65 Nutex Health is moving higher after a corporate update. The tech-focused healthcare services firm released a new corporate update early this morning, and investors liked what they saw. Nutex reaffirmed that it expects to open 20 new facilities by the end of 2024, with locations planned for new states: Florida, Wisconsin, Ohio, and Idaho. The facilities are either under construction or in the advanced planning stage. Nutex also said it also formed two new independent practice associations in Houston and South Florida, and it has plans to launch 1-3 additional IPAs per year around its existing hospitals. NUTX is one of this morning's top stocks with a 15.3% gain. My Take: NUTX expansion push sounds promising. The new facilities could drive significant revenue growth and lift share prices. Healthcare is one of the more stable sectors in a recession, so this company could be set up for solid growth in the years ahead. Senti Biosciences [SNTI] - Last Close: $4.48 Senti Biosciences is rebounding from steep losses on Friday. The pre-clinical biotech stock took a 31.2% loss on Friday after Morgan Stanley started it at "equalweight" with a $7.50 price target. However, the selloff may have been overdone because SNTI is rebounding ahead of the week's first opening bell. SNTI is up 13.6% on active trading volume in today's premarket. My Take: SNTI has been very volatile the past week or so, despite no major news. Not sure what's going on here, but the stock is still up big from the new 52-week low it set in September. Kalara PLC [KAL] - Last Close: $1.15 Kalara is trending after a new corporate filing. The vertical farming company filed a registration statement with the SEC on October 7th for the issuance and sale of up to about 15.7 million units. Each unit includes one share of KAL common stock and a Class A Warrant. According to the filing, each unit will be offered at a price of $1.27 per share. Kalara says the proceeds will go towards general corporate purposes. KAL is one of this morning's top performers with a 29.5% gain. My Take: The moves in this stock seem a little erratic, which is no surprise given its tiny market cap of only $26.9 million. I suspect there may be some coordinated market manipulation at play here.
