The social media stock rallied on news that activist investor Elliott Management has set its sights on the company. Elliott has built a stake of more than 9% in Pinterest, making it the company's largest investor. Since acquiring its stake, the company's have been in discussions to address Pinterest's challenges. News of Elliott's entrance sent PINS to a 15.4% gain in today's premarket. Our Take: Pinterest is struggling with a decline in users and other notable challenges, but Elliott could be the one to turn the ship around. This news could be a pivot point for this once-hot tech stock. Vertical Aerospace [EVTL] - Last Close: $2.90 Vertical Aerospace just landed a major purchase order, and shares are rallying on the news. The electric aircraft company announced this morning that it has secured a pre-deliver payment commitment from a major airline, American Airlines. American has agreed to purchase 50 of Vertical Aerospace's VX4 eVTOL aircraft, and the air line also has a conditional order and contract options for another 350 planes. The company didn't share any financial details relating to the transaction in its press release. Vertical's VX4's can fly up to four passengers with zero operating emissions across distances of over 100 miles. EVTL is up 26.2% on news of American Airlines' purchase Vonage Holdings [VG] - Last Close: $19.65 A favorable regulatory decision is lifting shares of Vonage. This morning, Swedish telecom stock Ericsson announced that the Committee on Foreign Investment in the US had approved its $6.2 billion proposal to acquire Vonage. Ericsson first announced its intentions to acquire Vonage back in November, but the deal has been hung up in regulatory review ever since. Under the terms of the agreement, VG shareholders will receive $21 for each share of common stock With approval in hand, Ericsson says it expects to close on the deal as early as next week. VG is up 6.8% on news of the regulatory green light. Our Take: Vonage shares dipped sharply last month, and that would've been the best time to jump in this trade. Now, it's doubtful there is any upside left in this trade. NexImmune Inc [NEXI] - Last Close: $1.47 NexImmune is breaking out on news regulators had approved a new drug candidate. The US Food and Drug Administration has approved the clinical-stage biotech firm's investigational new drug application for its HPV-related cancer treatment, NEXI-003. The FDA okay clears the way for the company to conduct a Phase-1 trial for the drug candidate in patients with HPV-related oropharyngeal cancers. After the company gets some data from the Phase 1 trial and confirms its Phase 2 dosage, NexImmune expects to include other HPV-related disease in NEXI-003 trials. News of the FDA okay is powering NEXI to a 27.2% gain, and it's one of the most actively-traded premarket stocks. Our Take: NEXI was trading right below $5 per share not too long ago. If they can bring this drug to market, there could be some upside ahead for this micro-cap biotech stock.
