Then there is the U.S. House, the body that I currently serve in. Republicans currently have the narrowest of majorities and Democrats need to net just 5 seats to take control of the chamber. Here’s the catch: it’s not just about flipping 5 Republican held seats, but about defending all of the seats currently held by Democrats. And two of those critical races are very close to home for me. In Michigan’s 8th congressional district, State Senator Kristen McDonald Rivet is running to replace the great Representative Dan Kildee. In the 7th district, Curtis Hertel is running for my seat.
