My story is different. As a teen immigrant from Ecuador, I fought hard to create my own American dream. In high school, I worked early morning shifts before homeroom to help my family afford rent for our one room apartment. I studied hard to earn a scholarship that made college possible for me and dedicated my career to public service. Eventually, I ran for Congress, defeated a Republican incumbent, and became the first South American immigrant elected to the House. In Congress, I fought tirelessly to expand Medicare access, lower the cost of living, end gun violence, and protect families like yours.
