This may not be the easy thing to do, but it’s the right one.  ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌  ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌  ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌  ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌  ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌  ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌  ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌  ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌  ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌  ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌  ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌  ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ Erin Marshall is the Democratic nominee for Congress in Kentucky’s 1st District, running to unseat Republican James Comer and bring common sense to Washington, DC. We’re working to support her, so please take a minute to read her message below, and [consider splitting a donation between Elect Black Democrats and Erin’s campaign.]( — Elect Black Democrats [A message from Erin Marshall]( Friends, I’m so proud and excited to share with you that I’m running for Congress in Kentucky’s 1st District — where I was born and raised, and where I’m raising my son. I’ve got a lot more to say about why I’m running, and I hope you’ll read this whole email — but right off the bat, I need to ask directly for your support: [Will you split a donation of whatever you can right now (really, even a few dollars makes a difference) between Elect Black Democrats and me to help build up my campaign and unseat Comer?]( To be honest, telling people I’m running for Congress still feels a little wild to me — I’m just a regular mom who goes to work every day, takes care of my kid, and watches the news at night — but I know in my bones that this is the right thing to do. Our current representative, James Comer, has made a lot of national headlines in recent months for his total mishandling of the House GOP’s ridiculous impeachment investigation into President Biden. “Clueless,” “a disaster,” “a parade of embarrassments,” and “clown show” are just a few of the ways it’s been described. But the truth is, the disaster of James Comer goes deeper than just this investigation. He’s also spent his entire career spewing anti-choice, anti-woman nonsense, opposing reproductive freedom publicly while privately urging a past girlfriend to get an abortion (according to her, he even drove her to the appointment!). When Roe v. Wade was overturned and Kentucky’s extreme abortion ban went into effect, I got really angry. Like so many women around the country, I just couldn’t believe we were moving backward, losing our fundamental rights. I couldn’t fathom that girls and women in my home state would no longer have the choice that I had when I was unexpectedly pregnant at age 24. I know from experience that it’s hard and scary enough to be in that situation without politicians inserting themselves into your future, your health, and your fertility. Day after day, I stayed angry. I stewed in it, livid at Comer, livid at Trump, livid at Brett Kavanaugh and the entire Supreme Court. And then one day I remembered something that I used to know very well in my past life as a campaign organizer — WE have the power to change this. So here I am, the Democratic nominee for Congress in Kentucky’s 1st District. But look, being the right thing doesn’t mean this is the easy thing to do. It’s definitely scary, it’s all brand new, and it’s an uphill battle. So I’m asking everyone I know for help, and even folks I don’t know yet — because the only way this is going to work is if I have a lot of people by my side. Right now, by far the most impactful way you can help is by donating to my campaign. Can I count on you to split a contribution between Elect Black Democrats and me to help get this work off the ground? [You can give online in less than two minutes at this secure link.]( If you've stored your payment information with ActBlue Express, your donation will be processed immediately and split between Erin Marshall and Elect Black Democrats. For my son, for that 24-year-old version of myself, for every woman and girl who’s been pregnant and scared, for everyone who cried tears of rage when Trump was elected and cried again when his Supreme Court reversed nearly 50 years of progress — I’m diving into the deep end. James Comer may not know who I am yet, but believe me — come November, he will. THANK YOU for anything you can give to help my campaign grow. I sincerely appreciate your support.
