That’s when the Amazon will collapse past the point of no return plunging us all into a terrifying future. Unless we act now. As you read this, our leaders are plotting a trade deal that will see the Amazon permanently up in flames. But we have a plan to stop this recklessness! The EU elections in June are our chance to influence politicians to block this Amazon-destroying trade deal before it's finalised. We’re quickly running out of time. {NAME}, if 7500 Ekō members chip in the cost of a cup of coffee, we could use the next few weeks to unleash an intensive strategic push in key countries ahead of the elections: commissioning polls, running targeted ads and mobilising voters to support candidates who care about saving our rainforests. Tomorrow is too late – we have to act now. Can you chip in today to save the Amazon? [Donate $3]( another amount]( Scientists are sounding the alarm: nearly half of the rainforest faces large-scale collapse by 2050 if we don’t take action now to turn things around. Passing the EU-Mercosur deal would be signing the Amazon’s death warrant. Increased demand for meat and soy from countries like Brazil will unleash a wave of deforestation, lining the pockets of agribusiness while destroying the world’s largest carbon sink and violently displacing Indigenous communities. Toxic pesticide giants like Bayer and BASF stand to profit from this carnage too – they have been lobbying relentlessly to get this disastrous deal passed. We can’t let them win. Global opposition is growing. Millions of farmers across Europe have taken to the streets demanding a stop to this deal. And it’s working! President Macron recently appealed directly to the European Commission, urging to end the negotiations. France wields huge influence within the EU to block the deal, but they can’t do it alone…we need your help to increase the pressure on more countries so they join France in stopping this deal. For just the cost of a cup of coffee, you can help fuel a huge people-powered movement in Europe to pressure our political leaders to block this shady agreement once and for all. But for this to work, we need Ekō members behind us. Can you chip in to protect our rainforests and our planet? [Donate $3]( another amount]( Together we get our governments to prioritise a liveable planet over corporate greed but we have to act now! Can you chip in to save the Amazon rainforest?  [Donate $3]( another amount]( Thanks for all that you do, Deborah and the Ekō team --------------------------------------------------------------- More information: [EU-Mercosur unlikely to be finalised before the EU elections.]( Euractiv 13 February 2024 [Parts of Amazon rainforest could tip toward collapse by 2050, study warns.]( The Washington Post 16 February 2024 [France has the power to block Mercosur trade deal, Le Maire says.]( Politico 31 January 2024 [Rampant Wildfires Are Threatening a Collapse of the Amazon Rainforest]( Wired 11 March 2024  Anything extra raised will power Ekō and our campaigns worldwide fighting for people and the planet.   Ekō is a worldwide movement of people like you, working together to hold corporations accountable for their actions and forge a new, sustainable path for our global economy.
