Five of the world’s richest men are all investing in this tiny $4 company… [Effective Stock Habbits]( A special message from the Editor of Effective Stock Habbits: We are often approached by other businesses with special offers for our readers. While many don’t make the cut, the message below is one we believe deserves your consideration.   An artist's view of the launch of the Prime rocket from the Sutherland launch pad. Image: Orbex Rocket startup Orbex has announced that it has received approval to start building a launch facility in northern Scotland for a future launch of its rocket, scheduled for late 2023. Orbex has signed a 4-hectare lease agreement with Highlands and Islands Enterprise (HIE) in Sutherland, northwest Scotland. The lease term is 50 years with an option to renew for 25 years. According to the company's CEO Chris Larmor, construction of the spaceport will begin "soon" and be completed in 2023. Orbex does not disclose details regarding the infrastructure of the launch complex. Larmor said that the cost and operation of the constructed facility within three years will exceed 20 million pounds. The announcement of the future spaceport came after Orbex closed its Series C investment round, raising about £40.4 million from investors. One of them is Jacobs, a US engineering company that is the prime contractor for the ground systems that NASA uses for the SLS. Jacobs will be one in the construction of the Sutherland spaceport. Plans for a launch site at Sutherland date back to 2018, when the UK Space Agency selected the site as its preferred location for a vertical launch site. At the same time, it issued grants to Lockheed Martin and Orbex, implying the development of equipment capable of launching from the territory of the future complex. Spaceport development has been delayed for years by environmental audits, regulatory approvals and court hearings. In the end, Lockheed Martin chose another site for its missions, and Orbex left the Sutherland space center: it is from there that the British startup will launch its Prime carriers. The company expects to be able to launch up to 12 rockets a year in the future. Orbex is the first European company to operate its own spaceport. This is an important competitive advantage that will greatly facilitate the work with clients as we expand the scale of our work. Chris Larmor, CEO of Orbex The construction of Sutherland is a big step towards vertical launch opportunities in Scotland and will create new jobs both here and outside the country. I am confident that the new agreement will enable Orbex to strengthen the UK's position as Europe's leading commercial space service provider and provide an opportunity for international funding.
