State Superintendent of South Carolina Ellen Weaver named [Rebecca Gunnlaugsson]( as the agency's chief of staff, effective Oct. 2. Gunnlaugsson previously served as chief information officer of the South Carolina commerce department, as well as its chief economist. [Frederick White]( was named education director of the George H.W. Bush Presidential Library and Museum. White, a U.S. Navy veteran and former classroom teacher, previously served as the coordinator for the manufacturing and mechanical engineering technology program at Texas A&M University.
