Our 25th Anniversary Reception in the Bay Area was attended by over 50 Caroline D. Bradley Scholarship students, alums, parents and IEA staff and board members. It was a great evening of sharing stories, catching up and celebrating accomplishments. And the CDB family continues to grow! After a summer of traveling the country to interview finalists, another talented and accomplished cohort of Scholars was selected. CAROLINE D. BRADLEY SCHOLARSHIP . Our CDB Scholarship team read over 300 applications, traversed the country meeting with our Selection Committee member AND interviewed our finalists. We can't believe we are less than a week away from our biggest celebration of the year! Though we had an amazing summer, we are excited to welcome our students, parents and teachers back to our Fall Session, starting on September 18, with an exciting slate of new courses and returning favorites. [LEARN MORE]( GIFTED SUPPORT GROUP . A big shoutout to everyone who attended our September Gifted Support Group Meeting with Dr. Jamie Chaves. We learned a lot about sensory integration and how it affects our gifted learners. Thank you, Jamie! If you were unable to attend, the recording is on our [YouTube channel]( and website. We will share the details for our next meeting soon! [GIFTED SUPPORT GROUP]( EXPLORE Now open for enrollment: two workshops for 13- to 18-year-olds, both centered on biotechnology! These workshops will use advanced equipment on loan from Amgen and will teach students laboratory skills while delving into practical applications of the central dogma of molecular biology. Intro to Biotechnology Saturday, October 14 from 12:00-3:00pm Ages: 13-18 Students will learn the skills necessary for success in biotechnology laboratories, including transferring liquid with micropipettes and conducting gel electrophoresis. Biotechnology Bootcamp Friday, October 20, from 4:00-7:00pm and Saturday, October 21 from 12:00-3:00pm Ages: 13-18 Students will dive deeper into biotechnology to conduct bacterial transformation and protein purification. ​​​​ [REGISTER NOW]( ANNUAL REPORT . We look back on 2022 with grateful hearts. We celebrated the Caroline D. Bradley Scholarship Program’s 20th anniversary, partnered with the Pasadena Unified School District to provide afterschool innovation clubs at six schools, and moved our Yunasa East camp to a wonderful new location – to name just a few accomplishments. We are excited to announce that over the next several months, IEA will continue to transform the outdoor space at IEA's Learning Center into an outdoor multi-use classroom and activity space! Outdoor spaces for learning opportunities and community gatherings have become increasingly important as we strive to support healthy learning experiences for our students and families. This project was funded in part by a grant from the Pasadena Community Foundation with additional funding from another local foundation. IEA also recently received a generous grant from the Joseph Drown Foundation for general operating expenses.
