Turning a corner. IEA E-newsletter March 2021 [View in your browser]( [DONATE]( [VOLUNTEER]( [CONTACT US]( [January 2021]( Back in Class For the first time in nearly a year, we welcomed students back to our Learning Center in a limited capacity with full safety protocols. It's a small but meaningful milestone and a hopeful sign of things to come. With Academy's Summer session on the horizon, we're optimistic that things are finally beginning to turn a corner. We can't wait for the day we can safely welcome everyone back to full in-person classes. Until then, we still have a full slate of high quality virtual offerings to ensure that your child is engaged. Read on for updates on Yunasa, the Caroline D. Bradley Scholarship, Spyglass and Academy. Yunasa . [Yunasa campers in a canoe]( Yunasa applications are due on Monday, March 15! Please note that Yunasa West camp dates have been moved one week earlier and will now take place from June 5 to June 12. This date has been changed on the recommendation of Camp Shadybrook, as no other organizations will be on-site at that time, ensuring that we can provide the most low-risk, low-exposure environment possible. We will look at buildings and learn about their construction materials, design approaches, and environmental sustainability. We will become architects and use digital tools and paper models to express our design thinking. This is an introductory course; no design or arts experience is needed. Each session will provide insight into the concepts and language of architecture practice. Students will walk away with an awareness of our city and some fun design skills. Students are required to have a computer capable of running Rhino 3D and will be using the 90-day free trial of the program. [Yunasa February Calendar]( We've been fortunate to have so many accomplished and interesting people walk through our doors. Each month, IEA will highlight one of our program alumni to let the community know what they've been up to. This month, we caught up with Scott Greenberg. What is a favorite IEA/CDB memory? I remember fondly my first Bradley Seminar, which took place in Dallas. It was my first time meeting the other Caroline D. Bradley Scholars, and it was a really fun time. It was also my first time in the state of Texas! What words of wisdom would you pass on to current IEA students? Don't be too busy. Find time to relax, to hang out with friends, and to read for fun. Some people feel pressure to do a million extracurricular activities, but you'll have a better time if you pick just a few activities that you really enjoy and find meaningful.
