[ {NAME}, D.C. residents do not have a vote in Congress, do not have Senators in the upper chamber, and do not have final say over their own laws. With the upcoming floor vote in the U.S. House of Representatives, we have a rare opportunity to correct this stain on our democracy. We need to come together and make clear the people of D.C. are done waiting: NOW is the time for statehood. Our democracy works best when everyone has a voice in the process, but residents of Washington, D.C. are being denied that right. Statehood cannot wait. Generations of Washingtonians have been denied the right to participate in our democracy – to have their voices and votes heard in Congress, to help shape the future of our nation, and to have a say on Supreme Court justices, whose decisions affect every single person living in the United States. [D.C. statehood is a vitally important civil and voting rights issue. Please contact your Representative and make sure they support statehood.]( D.C. residents pay taxes, serve in the military, and support their families and communities in the same way as every other American, but they have no voting representation in Congress. The population of D.C. is larger than the states of Wyoming and Vermont, yet its residents have no say in the policies passing through Congress that will impact them. [Please contact your Representative and make sure they support D.C. statehood.]( Thank you for taking action today, Team ECU/LAV Action Fund © End Citizens United // Let America Vote Action Fund This message was sent to: [{EMAIL}]( | Emails are a crucial way to stay in touch with our top supporters.
