The psychologists Teresa Amabile and Steven Kramer have something they call “Progress Theory.” They discovered that achieving small, consistent wins doing meaningful work leads to a bigger feeling of progress, and more productivity and engagement. It turns out that even REFLECTING on the small wins and progress steps you’ve made also increases your feeling of accomplishment and esteem. But what do most people do? Unfortunately, instead of concentrating on the progress we’re making, we only look at how far we are from our goals and ideals, and the mistakes we’re making. ::: Here’s The Big Shift ::: Take a few minutes right now, and reflect on all the progress you’ve made in your life. Think about an area of your life where you took on a new challenge, learned a new skill, or embarked on a new career or business. Think about everything you’ve learned, all the progress you’ve made, and how far you’ve come. Now notice how you feel! It almost feels like… GRATITUDE… right? Isn’t that cool? So today, focus on how far you’ve come, not how far you have to go. It will make a massive difference!
